Harriet Harman, the British Labour Party deputy leader, and author of the equality bill currently before parliament that to call ambitious is to make a big understatement. Most importantly, and most troubling to critics, is that the new anti-discrimination measure introduces into the language of the law the idea of “protected characteristic” including age, disability, gender identity, religious beliefs or lack thereof, and sexual orientation. Despite calls from critics – including the Pope – that the bill is neo-Orwellian, it is an actual revolutionary political act, and is about accepting responsibility to reduce inequality by all branches of society.
Ben Whishaw stars on Broadway in The Pride, currently in previews, the story of two gay men living in two different centuries – both played Ben –named Oliver who struggle with the emotional costs and crisis of a pre-Stonewall romance (1958) and the post-Stonewall psychosexual consequences (2008). Hugh Dancy stars as Whishaw’s lover in each.
Icon Lady Bunny, Tina McKissick and, making his debut, former third round drafted Detroit Tiger pitcher Matthew Pender, opened last night Off-Broadway in a new play by William Wyatt titled When Joey Married Bobby. A comic tale of gay marriage, I think I would see it if only for the tall drink of water that is Mr. Matthew Pender.
Lasses Pedersen, a rather cute red head, for Lacoste spring and summer 2010.
Andy Roddick, un-manscaped, in Lacoste, last night in Miami, at CAA Super Bowl fete at the W Hotel.
