Malawi Police Locate Gay Rights Ring In Local Theatre Department, Does Vaughn Walker’s Supposed Sexual Orientation Tilt Prop 8 Trial, Cyndi Lauper And Lady Gaga Pair Up At amFAR Gala, Brazil Beauty, Jersey Shore Moves To South Beach, Soccer Stud, Chris Pine, Channing Tatum Lap Dance

Police in Malawi have intensified the search for an individual they maintain is the author of campaign in the country for gay rights, a campaign precipitated by the arrest in December of two gay men – 26 year old Steven Monjeza and 20 year old Tiwonge Chimbalanga – after they tried to marry in a traditional ceremony. 21 year old Peter Sawali, who was arrested last week caught pasting pro-gay posters in Blantyre, pled guilty to a charge of breach of peach and has been convicted and sentenced to two months of community service. According to police, Sawali, under interrogation “mentioned a name of a man in Blantyre working for a theatre company but authorities there say they do not know the man and have never heard of him.” The government, meanwhile, has called on all gay advocates to announce themselves – homosexuality being illegal in Malawi, spokesperson Kingsley Namankhwa stating “as far as the Malawi government is concerned we only have two gays in Malawi – Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga. If there are others let them come out in the open.”

Since Sunday’s supposed outing by the San Francisco Chronicle of United States Chief Justice Vaughn Walker, there have been calls that he recues himself, because being gay, critics contend, there exists an obvious bias. Walker did not chose the Proposition 8 trial; it was assigned randomly. He is historically conservative minded, so much so that early in his judicial career he was on opposite sides with the gay community, famously, as an attorney, he represented the United States Olympic Committee in a bitter battle with the founders of the Gay Games. So, does his sexual orientation matter in way create an arena of unfairness or is this simply the best definition of irony?

If you were wondering why all of the Jersey Shore cast had taken over Miami, it wasn’t simply for the Super Bowl festivities, or an opportunity to be seen; the MTV cultural curiosity will be shooting its second season in South Beach, executives with the show sensing that filming on location along the eastern New Jersey shore would be a logistical nightmare, given its notoriety.
