Malawi Member Of Parliament Says He Would Hang His Gay Son, Uganda Climate Of Fear For Gays, Anti-Gay Reggae Artist Removed From California Tour, Westboro Baptist Protest Bested By High School Student Counter-Protest, Inside Whistler Pride House, Scotty Lago Behaves Badly Publically And Is Asked To Leave Vancouver, Michael Phelps To Retire In 2012, Michael Phelps And Alexandre Bilodeau Get Cosy

The sixth in a series of investigative reports from the frontlines of Uganda and the declared war on gays, details on a human rights forum held Friday in the capital city of Kampala – Human Rights and Sexual Orientation – which, according to the author, underlined how sickening regressive the thinking is regarding homosexuality. Member of Parliament Otto Odonga, who said “human rights are not sacrosanct,” and that homosexuality was an unwelcomed “deviant behaviour,” said he would kill his own son should his son be gay.

Another report on the collateral damage done in Malawi by the proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009, a measure understood by gay Malawians as a letter of intent that all homosexuals be exterminated.

Anti-gay reggae performer Capleton has been removed from the line up of the Ragga Muffins Festival of California, which opens Saturday night in Oakland. The Jamaican Capleton has recorded a number of songs that strongly urge gays and lesbians be killed.

Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church continues their tour of hate throughout the southland of California, but the anti-gay, anti-Semitic troupe of ignorance and intolerance was greeting with a counter-protest of love and understanding in Long Beach, California on Friday. Over one thousand students from Wilson High were there to greet the seven person WBC contingent, waving rainbow flags and carrying signs that read Rock Hates Scissors, mocking the travelling troupe of haters, who quite quickly left escorted by the police.

Is the Whistler Pride House at the Vancouver Winter Olympics a safe space for gay and lesbian athletes or simply an indication of Canada’s progressive climate?

American bronze medalist Scotty Lago “volunteered” to leave Vancouver Friday as quickly as he came, that after these two photos of halfpipe star surfaced, a female fan feigning fellatio while Lago offers a viewing of his abs and underwear.

Michael Phelps – who seems a little unsure of leading a life outside the glare of the media – began a five day tour of the Vancouver Winter Olympics and promptly announced that he would retire from swimming after the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games.. Phelps then joined the completely cute Canadian gold medal winning Alexandre Bilodeau in some sort of sexual shenanigans.

What a great blog!

And thanks for mentioning Capleton. Capleton's February 2010 tour of California and Nevada is completely canceled. In California, performances in Arcata, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, Oakland and Long Beach were canceled. An appearance in Crystal Bay, Nevada was also canceled.

He is still scheduled for the 02/27/10 "Bob Marley Movement Caribbean Festival" in Miami, though.

You can find out about Capleton and his homophobic songs in the "Dancehall Dossier" http://tinyurl.com/2xax3b

Capleton signed the Reggae Compassionate Act form in 2007. He agreed, by signing this form, not to promote hatred and violence. You can see Capleton's signed RCA form at http://www.petertatchell.net/popmusic/reggaecompassionateact-capleton.htm

Before the end of 2007 he violated his Reggae Compassionate Act agreement. As a consequence he had performances canceled in Basel, Switzerland and in France in 2008.

This PDF file has information about Capleton's violation of his RCA agreement and points to a YouTube video where you can actually hear him break his RCA agreement http://tinyurl.com/y873vtm

You have to listen very carefully for lines like: "Battyman fi dead di yuth em right bout that" ("Faggots must die. The youth are right about that.")

Capleton is a performer who has promoted hatred, violence and murder. We need to keep an eye out for him as he comes to our countries and communities.

Mainly because of religion ("[Jamaica] is a Bible society"), Jamaica is an extremely homophobic country, as are some other former British colonies. Sex between consenting male adults is illegal in Jamaica, with an up to 10 year prison term for conviction.
