A number of vigils are scheduled for February 12th, the second anniversary marking the killing of 15 year old Lawrence King. King was shot twice in the head on that date, 2008, by a classmate, the then 14 year old Brandon McInerney, as the school day began, because of his perceived sexual orientation. King remained in a coma and was taken off life support on February 14th.
A transgendered woman in Bakersfield, California is in custody Thursday, charged in the stabbing death of a 45 year old man who succumbed to his injuries Tuesday. Jacky Davis said she stabbed Arthur Arnold out of self-defense, saying the two had been using methamphetamines Saturday, when Arnold became violent.

Rhode Island elected its first black and first openly gay House speaker Thursday. 48 year old Gordon D. Fox, as expected, took over from fellow Democrat William J. Murphy, who is retiring. Rhode Island remains the only New England state not to allow same sex marriage, and according to an interview Fox gave Thursday, he said he is “in a long-term relationship, but not officially married,” adding that “when I get married, I would like to do it in my home state.”
OutFrontMinnesota, a gay advocacy group, organized a pro-gay marriage gathering in front of the state capital Thursday, and, in addition to community members and politicians, it attracted a number of various clergy from different faith groups, all rallying for a gay marriage bill to be passed in the state.
The governing body of the Church of England Thursday voted to extend equal pension rights to the civil partners of deceased clergy. The Church has allowed gay partners of gay clergy benefits, but only in respect of service since 2005, when civil partnerships were legalized. The Church of England accepts gay clergy on the condition they are celibate.
Lorenzo Martone is hosting a Butt Magazine Valentine’s Day party this Sunday in Manhattan, and the paramour of Marc Jacobs, interviewed in the upcoming issue of the aforementioned periodical, says that he and Jacobs did “marry” in St. Barths on New Year’s Eve, as was reported; expect that they did not really “marry” in the legal definition of that word. Also, Martone mentions he is hung.

Taylor Lautner turned 18 Thursday, and to celebrate, he went for a work out, and then exited said workout by the backdoor, accompanied by an odd, unidentified male - a Blue Tooth guy with purple pony-tailed hair. It is so weird, because Sunday, on my birthday, I did the very same thing.
