A gay storyline from the German drama Verboten Liebe (Forbidden Love) is being adapted for North American television, according to reports. Christian & Olli, about a gay couple living in Dusseldorf, is being adapted by Sam Martin, a former executive at HBO, and will be set in Portland, Oregon. Casting for the critical roles has yet to be announced.
The Hurt Locker, thankfully, won big at the Baftas Sunday, in London, England, winning a total of six awards, including best picture, best director, and best original screenplay. The dismal and dumb Avatar won only two awards – best special effects and best production design. Colin Firth deservedly won best actor for his work in A Single Man, and Carey Mulligan won best actress for her work in An Education. Mo’Nique won best supporting actress for her turn in Precious and Christoph Waltz won supporting actor for his turn in Inglorious Basterds.
