Alexander McQueen Takes Own Life, Canadian G20 Summit Disrupts Toronto Pride And MLB, Did Welsh Rugby Star Tweet Homophobia Or Just Stupidity, Football Associations Cancelled Anti-Homophobic Ad, Pauly D Back For More iPhone Fun, Sizzling Brazilian Rafael Cardoso Nude

Alexander McQueen, the 40 year old British fashion designer is dead. According to reports McQueen took his own life days after the death of his beloved mother, Joyce, who passed away February 2nd. McQueen, one of fashion’s originals, an artist whose love of the weird never overtook the creation of the wearable, was to show his collection McQ this afternoon in New York as a part of Fashion Week, but the presentation has been cancelled.

The Canadian government is hosting the G20 Summit in June, in Toronto, and according to reports the decision will affect both the city’s annual Pride celebrations and MLB. The location of the summit, the Convention Centre, is situated in the core of the downtown, in the heart of the financial district, but next door to the Rogers Centre, and that means moving one of both of two scheduled Blue Jays games. Pride Week, which begins June 25th, will now host the Parade on July 4th.

Jonathan Thomas, a 27 year old Welsh international rugby player has apologized for alleged homophobic slurs he posted to his Twitter account Wednesday night in a remark made at the expense of referee Nigel Owens, who himself came out and admitted he struggled for years with self-loathing before accepting his sexuality. Thomas, a teammate of the Gareth Thomas, who came out last year to great admiration, is also a friend of Owens. Thomas said “I made a very silly comment to something that was written, but nevertheless, I would like to apologise to anyone who is or was offended by it. I have spoken to Nigel this afternoon and, as I knew at the time of writing, he is not offended and remains a very good friend. I have now removed the offending comment and will be much more conscious of distinguishing between private jokes and what can be said in a public forum in future. “

Thomas’ trouble comes as the Football Association attempts to deal with the problem of homophobia on and off the field, particularly by fans. The FA had hoped to launch an anti-homophobia campaign, but it is cancelled, at least for the moment. An ad - which you can view in the above link - produced by the FA scheduled to air throughout England was pulled after initial response was more than negative; the spot an odd, deeply dark, and violent piece that is actually often offensive.
