UN Human Rights Commissioner Calls On Uganda To Discard Anti-Homosexuality Bill, Uganda Pastor Organizes Million-Man March In Support Of Anti-Gay Measure, Mr. Gay China Closed Before It Began, Jack Price Assailants Charged With Hate Crimes, Federico Devito, Fashionable Sporty Men, Andy Roddick And Juan Martin del Porto Shirtless And Sweaty

Friday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay urged Uganda to renounce the proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009, saying the country should “shelve (the) draconian draft bill.” Pillay, in a statement, said that “the bill clearly breaches international human rights standards, as it is blatantly discriminatory,” adding that “it is extraordinary to find legislation like this being proposed more than 60 years after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights ... made it clear that type of discrimination is unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, a Ugandan pastor, Martin Ssempa, announced that the organization of “million-man” march in support of the measure that proposes the death penalty for acts of “aggravated homosexuality.” Ssempa, who is an associate of several American evangelicals, has scheduled the march for February 17th.

Authorities in Beijing, China Friday stopped the first Mr. Gay China contest. Police officers shutting down the event one hour before it were to begin telling the organizers that official approval for the event had not been secured.

Daniel Aleman and Daniel Rodriguez, 21 and 26 years old respectively, were indicted Thursday morning on fourteen counts of assault and robbery as a hate crime. The two brutally attacked Jack Price, 49 years old, in Queens, New York, in October, 2009, Price left with a broken jaw, broken ribs, two collapsed lungs, and a lacerated spleen. Aleman and Rodriguez have been held in custody since the incident without bail, and are to be arraigned January 25th.
