Late Friday, proponents of Proposition 8 – the California voter amendment that effectively eliminated the right of gay men and women in the state to marry – lost their appeal to bar cameras from the federal trial challenging the constitutionality of the gay marriage ban. In a terse, one paragraph order, the three member panel of the 9th United States Court of Appeals rejected the request made by attorneys for defendants, which had been made arguing that witness may be compelled to restrain or to edit their testimony if cameras are present. The historic trail begins Monday.
