The body 32 year old Christopher Rudow was found Tuesday in his loft in Buffalo, New York. Rudow, openly gay, had moved to Buffalo from New York City some six years ago, worked for GEICO as well as a professional DJ. He died from blunt force trauma, but beyond that police have little information to work with.
Does the tale of 20 year old Leti Martinez, whose relationship with 19 year old girlfriend Jennifer Bautista was marked by violence and ended horrifically when Bautista allegedly ran Martinez over with her car on December 28, tell a story of domestic violence within the gay community that for a number of reasons remains untold?
Pope Benedict Tuesday morning, speaking to a contingent of diplomats at the Vatican, somehow managed to connect concern over the continual destruction of the environment to gay marriage, homosexuals representing a threat to creation. He also mentioned the poor.
Supporters of same sex marriage in Iowa Sunday began a campaign against any and all proposed amendments that overturn that state’s measure affording gay men and women the right to marry. One Iowa, the state’s largest LGBT advocacy group, launched its Equality: Red Blue Purple campaign in an effort to get ahead of what appears to be attempts by anti-gay marriage groups and state legislators to overturn the same sex marriage law passed in April. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the Iowa Family Policy Center will hold a rally in front of the state capital buildings, timed to coincide with the governor’s annual Condition of the State speech, demanding that marriage be constitutionally defined as that only existing between a man and a woman.
Former Tennessee Congressmen Harold Ford Junior, who wants to run as a candidate for New York Senate, has suddenly embraced gay marriage, despite having voted as a matter of public record twice in favour of federal amendment limiting marriage to a man and a woman. This morning, Ford said his position is evolving, and now, timely, he is in favour of equality.
