Canadian Gay Icon Peter Corren Dead, New Year In New Hampshire Brings Gay Marriages, Proposition 8 Author Frank Shubert’s Gay Sister’s Judicial Aspirations, Taylor Lautner Works It All Out, Zac Efron Beefs Up

Peter Corren, born Peter Cook, who, along with his husband Murray, whose last name was Warren, led a lawsuit to legalize gay marriage in Canada, specifically in British Columbia, died Wednesday, after a three year battle with cancer. The two were among the first gay couples to marry in this country, taking the surname Corren. They also were instrumental in amending adoption laws, becoming one of the first gay couples to legally adopt. Perhaps most profoundly, the couple were involved a Human Rights Complaint against the province in 1997 contending that B.C. public school system’s refusal to include information on homosexuals in the curriculum was tantamount to systemic discrimination, a case the province settled before the Tribunal was to hear the case.

It is official: gay marriage is now legal in New Hampshire, a number of couples braving the cold to exchange their vows.

Frank Shubert, the architect of Proposition 8 and of Yes On 1, both voter amendments in California and in Maine respectively that effectively eliminated the right of gay men and women to marry, has a sister, who is gay, partnered, and raising two children, and is a candidate for Sacramento County Superior Court judge.

Taylor Lautner, dubious heterosexual, and his guns were out and about New Year’s eve afternoon, working out.

Zac Efron, too, works out, Zac growing hotter and hotter each and every day.
