Happy 2010
It the new year, well at least in Australia it is, and I want to take the opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year, one that is joyous, loving, and peaceful, and to thank you all for your support throughout the past year, in particular those who follow The Time of My Life, and who contribute to the continuing success.
New Hampshire Brings In New Year With New Gay Marriage Measure, Anti-Gay Haters Camera Shy, New Jersey Civil Unions Nearly Impossible To Dissolve, Oklahoma Senator Russell Will Not Participate In Hate Crimes Act, BBC Anchor Comes Out, One Life To Live Kish Sex
At midnight, New Hampshire will become the fifth state in America union to allow same sex couples to legally marry. On October 3rd, the state began to issue marriage licenses, valid for up to ninety days, and as of Tuesday forty had been obtained. In 2007, the state afforded gay couples the right to civil unions, and it is estimated that in two years, there have been over eight hundred civil union ceremonies performed in state. On January 1st, 2011, all civil unions automatically convert to marriages. This New Year’s Eve, a number of celebrations are planned, including one in the capital city of Concord.
Proposition 8 proponents are apparently shy about their anti-gay hate, a court filing Monday by supporters of the same sex marriage ban suggesting to Judge Vaughn Walker that his intention to televise the federal trail seeking to challenge the voter amendment is illegal and unwise, adding that “some of their witness have indicated that they would not be willing to testify” if the proceedings were to air fearing harassment and intimidation. Lawyers for the plaintiffs insist that the trail is of such national importance, that there exists a profound interest in the issues.
In New Jersey, same sex couples seeking to dissolve civil unions – dissolution the legal term – are finding it more difficult to separate than they would if married and were seeking a divorce.
Oklahoma State Senator Steve Russell, Republican, as posted previously, intends to introduce legislation in 2010 that would except the state from adhering to the recently expanded and strengthened Federal Hate Crimes Act, Russell’s measure forbidding state and local law officials from cooperating with federal authorities investigating a hate crime based on sexual orientation.
BBC anchor Jane Hill has come out, revealing to the in-house publication Ariel that she is in a long term relationship with her partner Sara.
One Life To Live characters Fish and Kyle – Kish to those in the know – amp up their dreamy, steamy relationship, and while I, as a big, big fan of Fish’s smoking sexy Scott Evans, could not be more pleased, it is a little odd that the same network which censored the pantomimed man on man American Music Awards action of Adam Lambert would go for broke during one of its daytime dramas.

Rush Limbaugh Rushed To Hawaii Hospital, Bradley Cooper Displays Coin-Slot, Jason Bartha Broadway Bound, Matt Boomer, Rosie O’Donnell’s New Girlfriend
Right wing lunatic pundit Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu, Hawaii hospital after complaining about chest pains. Paramedics responded to an emergency call at approximately 2:41PM at the Kahala Hotel and Resort, treated Limbaugh, and then transferred him to Queens Medical Center where he remains in serious condition.
Bradley Cooper‘s celebrity crack.
The absolutely one and only reason to ever see The Hangover – Jason Bartha- is scheduled to star in a revival of Lend Me A Tenor, making his Broadway in a role to have originally feature T.R. Knight, who dropped out for unspecified reasons. The 1989 Ken Ludwig play, set as a nine-teen thirties screwball farce, will also mark the Broadway directing debut of Stanley Tucci. Previews being March 11th, opening night set for April 4th.
More Matt Bomer, who as the star of White Collar, is quite quickly becoming the sexiest man on television.
Rosie O’Donnell and her new girlfriend, Tracy Kachtick-Anders, made their first public appearance as a couple, out and about Tuesday in Miami Beach, Florida.

Malawi Men Plead Not Guilty To Charges Of Unnatural Acts, Scotland Asked To Intervene, Cured Lesbian Disappears With Daughter After Rules In Custody Case, Boy Scouts Deny Lesbian Couple, Allison Goldfrapp Comes Out, Real Washington’s Gay Guy, Channing Tatum Gladiator, Kellan Lutz Adds A Scarf
The Malawi men who married Saturday and subsequently arrested by police on charges of gross public indecency and unnatural act between men plead not guilty to all three. The two – 20 year old Tiwonge Chimbalanga and 26 year old Steven Monjeza – will be held in jail till Monday, at which time they ask for bail. In the mean time, prosecutors insist the two must be sent to an area hospital for test to prove they had engaged in sex.
Scotland, meanwhile, who contributes a substantial amount in aid to Malawi is being asked by activists to intervene in the matter, but a Scottish government spokesperson said that the “cooperation agreement with the government of Malawi identifies priority areas for our development funding, aimed at helping some of the world’s poorest people. Any other internal issues are a matter for the government of Malawi.”
Lisa Miller, who claims she was cured of being gay, and is now an extreme evangelical homophobe, has disappeared with the daughter she shares with her former partner, after a court in Virginia ordered she must relinquish full custody of the child to Janet Jenkins.
In Vermont, Cate Wirth and her long time civil partner Elizabeth have rejected as Cub Scout leaders, the two having offered to volunteer for the role only to be told by a district director that they could not be leader because “we wouldn’t want you pushing your lifestyle on the boys.” The two have a 10 year old son, Dylan, and have been active in his Scouting for years, but they admit, few realized they were a couple. The Boy Scouts of America national policy, upheld by a 5-4 2000 United States Supreme Court ruling, bars homosexuals from being troop leaders.
In an article on the trend of mid-life lesbians, Allison Goldfrapp comes out.
MTV's The Real World Washington premiers Wednesday, and yes there is a gay guy, well, a bisexual guy: Mike, a snowboarder from Colorado.

Gay Indiana University Professor Murdered, Aging Australian Gays Face Health Care Crisis, GLAAD Goes To Sundance, Andy Roddick Wears Too Tight Tee, Boy Wonder Ed Westwick, Kenzie, Garrett Neff
25 year old Michael J. Griffin, of Bloomington, Illinois, is in custody, charged with murder in connection to the horrific murder of Indiana University English professor, 53 year old Don Belton. Belton’s body was discovered by a friend Monday. According to police, Griffin visited Belton Sunday to confront him about two alleged sexual assaults that took place Friday. An argument occurred, and Griffin admitting stabbing Belton with a ten inch military type knife after Belton did not, according to Griffin, “show or express any type of feeling that what had taken place was a mistake.”
An Australia Senate inquiry heard that the country’s aging gay community might face a catastrophic medical health crisis because there is an apparent absence of supportive health care services available.

Republicans Condemn Lunatic Illinois Senate Candidate, Vidari DeGuzman, Peter Tatchell Is So Sour, Sam Worthington Nude, Ben Barnes Nude, Zachary Quinto, David Beckham Italia Style
The Republican Party has condemned political nuisance Andy Martin, the candidate running for the Illinois Senate seat left vacant by Barack Obama, who Monday ran an ad questioning the sexual orientation of the presumptive winner, Representative Mark Kirk. Martin, straight face no less, suggests his information for the advertisement is based on a “solid rumor on the Internet,” Martin claiming Kirk “lives in some kind of Animal House in Washington with another gay congressman.” Martin, whom the GOP says “demeans the political process,” was denied admission to the Illinois Bar, refused the right to practice law in the state, because of a “moderately severe character defect” who unsuccessfully campaigned for Congress running on the “eliminate the Jew in America” ticket.

Malawi Authorities Arrest Married Gay Couple, Senegal Police Arrest 24 Men Suspected Of Homosexuality, Gay Man Shot Dead In Washington, Levi Johnston Contends Sarah Palin Extremely Vindictive, Taylor Lautner Leaves His Beard, Marc Jacobs Hates Pants
Reuters reports that Malawi police arrested and charged Tiwonge Chibalanga and Steven Mojeza with public indecency Tuesday, the two men having been the first gay couple to marry in the southern African state Saturday. Homosexuality is illegal in Malawi, punishable by up to fourteen years in prison, a police spokesperson, Dave Chingwalu, saying “We arrested them last night at their home and charged them with gross public indecency because the practice is against the law.”
The Associated Foreign Press reports that Senegal police arrested twenty four men on the evening of December 24th, and are investigating the group for alleged “homosexual activities.” The men were arrested a private home. Homosexuality is illegal in the county, carrying a prison sentence of up to five years upon conviction.
DC Agenda reports on the targeted murder of a 29 year old gay man, Anthony J. Perkins found shot to death Sunday morning in his car near Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. District police are asking for help in the investigation.
A Judge in Alaska ruled on December 22nd, that the records in the custody case of Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston be open to the public, dismissing arguments that the publicity could damage 1 year Tripp, the object of the dispute. Levi Johnston sought public disclosure, according to the Anchorage Daily News, saying in an affidavit “I know that public scrutiny will simplify this matter and act as a check against anyone’s need to be overly vindictive, aggressive or malicious, not that Bristol would ever be that way, nor that I would. But her mother is powerful, politically ambitious and has a reputation for being extremely vindictive, so I think a public case might go a long way in reducing Sarah Palin’s instinct to attack.”
The two Taylors – Lautner and Swift – have ended their relationship, that according to an exclusive US Weekly report. It is so sad and surprising too, because it all appeared so authentic, what with Lautner having a boyfriend.
Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone, still in the south of France, still on the beach, still, stubbornly in teeny tiny swimsuits.

Argentina Hosts Latin America’s First Homosexual Marriage, Andy Martin Madness, Iris Robinson Resigns Citing Mental Illness, First Openly Gay United States Marshal Confirmed, New York City Firefighters Calendar, Novak Djokovic News
Tuesday, two determined gay men – Alex Freyre and Jose Maria Di Bello – became the first homosexual couple to legally marry not only in Argentina, but in Latin America, the Associated Foreign Press reports. The two were married in Ushuaia, the southernmost province of the county, after Governor Fabiana Rios overruled a civil register that had refused to marry the twosome earlier this month in the capital city of Buenos Aires. “We knew the governor was a person who sympathized with this cause, “Di Bello said, adding “It’s a step forward toward judicial equality for every man and woman.”
Andy Martin, a candidate for a Republican United States Senate seat from Illinois, illustrates how deeply disconnected from reality he actually is, Andy, whose history of anti-Semitism and legal buffoonery led the state Supreme Court to find him unfit to practice law in Illinois, today accused the frontrunner, Republican Representative Mark Kirk of being a homosexual, and of “surrounding himself with homosexuals.” The election for the seat, which was Barack Obama’s will be held February 2nd, the Chicago Tribune reporting the rest of the embarrassing details.
The Belfast Telegraph on the announcement made Monday by Irish Member of Parliament Iris Robinson that she is leaving politics, suffering, she says, from serious mental health issues. Iris Robinson earlier this year said that homosexuality was an abomination that sickened her.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the United States Senate confirmed current Minneapolis assistant police Chief Sharon Lubinski a marshal Monday, making her the first openly gay to hold the position in the country and only the second woman to hold the title in the state.

The World According To Larry Kramer, The Thin Line Between Gay Politics And Gay Politicians, China’s Year Of The Gay, Andrew Stetson Male Model Goodness, Lindsay Lohan And Adam Senn, Leonardo DiCaprio On The Beach
Jesse Green, writing in the new New York magazine, profiles the often angry, and always necessary Larry Kramer, one of the great and obvious heroes of the modern gay liberation movement, whose work as a founding member of ACT UP changed the course of HIV history and of medicine, and whose massive historical tome American People, a book he has worked on since 1978, might finally be published in 2011, a work that “queers” history, and ultimately, Green asks a valid question: “why has this man not been awarded a Nobel Prize?”
The New York Times, reporting on the seemingly sudden surge in out gay candidates in the United States, who attain the support that gay causes – i.e. same sex marriage – do not, a reminder, perhaps, that the hate is often an abstraction.
China Daily reports on 2009 as being the year of the gay, the country’s LGBT community finding acceptance, support, and tolerance as never before.
Andrew Stetson, a Canadian male model of considerable hotness.
The New York Daily News says that Lindsay Lohan and male model Adam Senn are a couple, Senn seen on MTV’s The City, and booked mostly for Gucci.
Leonardo DiCaprio, minus boyfriend Lucas Hass, plus beard Bar Refali, all over the shores of Cabo, Leo having manscaped most if not all of his body within an inch of its life.

First Gay Malawi Marriage, Supreme Court Rules Pakistan Travesties Be Protected, Washington Post On DADT, Colin Farrell And Family Celebrate Brother’s Gay Marriage, John Waters’ Best 2009 Films, Italian Sexy Swimmer Star Marco Orsi, Floria Wagenaar
Reuters reports that two Malawi men married Saturday, risking arrest in the southern African state that still regard homosexuality as a crime, punishable with a sentence of up to fourteen years in prison. Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza were wed in a largely symbolic ceremony, Monjeza saying “we met a church where we both pray and we have been together for the last five months ... I have never been interested in a woman.”
Last Wednesday, again according to Reuters, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled that transvestites and eunuchs be permitted to identify themselves as a distinct gender as a part of legal move to ensure their rights, the Court ordering the government to give national identity cards to the members of the community that will display their distinct gender and reduce discrimination and harassment.
The Washington Postwrites an editorial on Monday of ending the absurd policy that bans gays and lesbians from serving openly in the United States military.
Colin Farrell and family Farrell celebrate the marriage of Colin's brother Eamon Farrell and Steven Mannion, the couple married in Canada in late spring.
Fast becoming a Time of My Life tradition, the annual top ten films as chosen by John Waters, John and I only in agreement that Pedro Almodovar’s Broken Embraces was one of 2009’s best.
Meet Marco Orsi, yet another member of the men’s Italian swim team, the 19 year old born in Budrio, in Bologna, who swims in the 50 meter and the 100 meter freestyle, and who is beyond cute.

Yale Accused Of Stifling Free Speech While Censoring The Word Sissies, Eminem Agrees To Drop Anti-Gay Lyrics, Valentine’s Day Trailer Same Sex Free, Chris Pine Treasure Trail, Getting Levi’s Johnson Leaked Photographs
Is the word “sissy” offensive? In November the Yale University Freshman Class Council announced that the tee shirt commemorating the annual Yale versus Harvard football game would bear a quotation from F. Scott Fitzgerald – “I think of all Harvard men as sissies” – emblazoned across the front in large white letters. The Yale LGBT Cooperative and a number of other students raised concerns, including Julio Perez-Torres, a member of the LGBT Co-op, who said that the term was offensive and demeaning, as well as a “thinly veiled gay slur.” The shirt’s design was subsequently changed, with involvement from the Yale administration, but now, nearly a month later, the Yale Daily News reports that the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, an advocacy group centered on civil liberties in American colleges and universities, has asked the Yale administration to reconsider the decision to “censor” the tee shirt, Adam Kassel, the director of FIRE, said “In matters large and small, Yale has taken steps that erode the freedom it once championed, teaching its students that the authorities ultimately decide which expressions are acceptable or unacceptable. This seems the very opposite of a liberal education in a free society.”
Eminem, for the first time in five years, will play a concert in the United Kingdom, the Daily Mail reporting that organizers of the Wireless Festival, to take place July 2-4 in Hyde Park, in London, “have persuaded the rapper to drop his gratuitously anti-gay songs to avoid any demonstrations.” The last time he toured the country, the gay rights advocacy organization OutRage! protested, contended that outside the boundaries of free speech, Eminem’s lyrics encouraged and incited hate and violence towards gays.
Valentine’s Day, a new film from director Gary Marshall that triumphs the reunion of his Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts, contains a rather interesting plot line that follows Roberts’ best friend, played by Bradley Cooper, who is in a relationship with a closeted football star played by Eric Dane. I think. In pre-production the movie made much of the same sex romantic plot, but in the recently released trailer the gayness of Valentine’s Day is all but erased, a reminder, perhaps, that marketers still believe gay will not sell.
I previously posted a photograph of Chris Pine purchasing a pair of Ralph Lauren RLL jeans late Christmas Eve day, and now there are more, perhaps most importantly these pictures capturing Chris’ treasure trail and a glimpse of underwear, Pine remaining so fine.
I previously posted on the predictable porn incarnation – Getting Levi’s Johnson – of the Levi Johnston saga, starring the very cute Casey Monroe as Levi, the first leaked production pictures here, and obviously they are seriously NSFW.

New Jersey Senator Loretta Weinberg Says A Matter Of Time Before Gay Marriage Measure Passes, Anti-Gay Group Targets Iowa In 2010, Sundance Tightens Belt, Marc Jacobs And Lorenzo Martone Make Out Publically, Chris Pine Prefers Retail
North Jersey.com reports on Loretta Weinberg, a 74 year old grandmother, widow, and Democrat Senator from Teaneck, New Jersey, who is the author and “eternal optimist” behind the gay marriage measure in the state, who says of her now six year granddaughter, “I hope by the time you grown up and read this, you’ll think it was pretty silly in terms of us having to be involved in a legislative process of giving equal rights to people.”
Fox News is reporting that opponents of gay marriage are mobilizing in Iowa, Bryan English of the anti-gay group Iowa Family Policy Council ACTION saying the organization “plan to be at the state Capitol en masse on January 12th when Governor Chet Culver delivers his Condition of the State address to a joint session of the General Assembly with Iowa Supreme Court justices present,” adding that the occasion “will mark the first time that all three branches of state government are together since a unanimous Supreme Court ruled April 3rd that a state law defining marriage as between one man and one woman was unconstitutional.”
Apparently, the economy has impacted the upcoming Sundance Film Festival in a serious way, the Salt Lake City Tribune reporting that for the first time since 2004, the Queer Lounge, an area for gay and lesbians filmmakers to negotiate, network, or nap, will not open, nor will a number of “gifting lounges.”
Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone in St. Barts, France, après shopping at Hermes Christmas eve, make with some serious public displays of affection and of the twosomes’ tattoo collection along Saline Beach.
Chris Pine, seen Christmas Eve, not waiting for any after Christmas sales, pays retail – hundreds of dollars retail – for a single pair of Ralph Lauren RRL jeans.

Mexico City Moves Forward, East Point Georgia Progression, Decade Of Twenty Beautiful People, Santa Is A Guy With An iPhone
An editorial from the Los Angeles Times of Thursday, asserting that the measure passed this Monday in Mexico City affording gay men and women the right to legally marry, as well as to adopt children “is a triumph of tolerance over prejudice, of equal rights over discrimination” and that it is a “step toward fighting institutional and sometimes physical violence against homosexuals, because it says that gays and lesbians are just like everyone else.”
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Thursday East Point, Georgia has become the second city in Fulton County to pass a local law prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. East Point, socially progressive, has offered same sex domestic partnership benefits for city employees since 2005.

Father Accused Of Having Prostitute Rape Son To Sort Out Boy’s Gayness, Former Mr. Gay UK Charged, Boy George Banned, Chris And Liam Hemsworth Behave Badly, Zachary Quinto’s Abs
In Australia, in Rockhampton, Queensland, news that a father stands accused of allegedly forcing his 14 year old son to have sex with a prostitute because he feared the boy to be gay. The Morning Bulletin reports that apparently after a family Christmas barbecue in 2007, the father allegedly called a prostitute and arranged to meet her at a local motel and took his son to the room. The father waited outside on the balcony, occasionally coming in to check on them, and said that he wanted to see a used condom as proof that they’d had sex. Afterwards the father took the son home. In May, 2008, the father in question called the Child Protection Investigation Unit and spoke to Detective Sergeant Christine Knapp. He said that police had not acted on his allegations that his 14 year old son was ‘abusing’ his younger brother. That’s when the father revealed what he’s done, telling the Detective that he had done what he did in an effort to “sort out it himself.” A date for a trial before a higher court is to be set in 2010.
According to the Huddersfield Examiner, 27 year old Mark Carter has been arrested on suspicion of a sex attack that took place in Leeds last weekend. Carter, the 2006 Mr. Gay UK, currently a constable with the Huddersfield police force, released on bail, has been suspended from duty pending the results of an investigation.
Boy George has lost an appeal to the courts and is prohibited from appearing on the United Kingdom edition of Celebrity Big Brother, the Guardian reporting that Justice Bean ruled Wednesday that “an offender serving the non-custodial part of a sentence of imprisonment should not be allowed to take part in a high profile, controversial television production, promoting his status as a celebrity and with considerable financial gain.”
The brothers Hemsworth – Chris and Liam – are bad and like to brawl, which only makes the men hotter.
Zachary Quinto, gal pal Sarah Paulson, who recently revealed that she and girlfriend Cherry Jones has ended their relationship, Sarah’s dog, all enjoy lunch Wednesday in the lovely Los Feliz district of Los Angeles, California, at Little Dom’s Deli, we all enjoying a glimpse, however fleeting, of Zachary’s treasure trail and underwear.

Uganda Amends Anti-Homosexuality Bill Admitting Killing Gays Might Not Be Helpful, Marland Woods, Fred Phelps Protesting Lady Gaga, London AIDS Memorial
The Uganda Ethics and Integrity Minister Nsaba Buturo tells Reuters that the country’s government intends to amend the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, but that the gesture must not be misunderstood as one of appeasement to the West, in particular to countries that afford aid the African country. Buturo said that the revisions will now likely limit the maximum penalty for “acts of aggravated homosexuality” to life in prison instead of the death penalty. “There have been a lot of discussion in government ...regarding the proposed law, but we not think a life sentence could be better because it gives room for offenders to be rehabilitated, “Buturo said, adding, almost an afterthought, “Killing them might not be helpful.”
The Findlay, Ohio Courier is reporting that 33 year old Marland Woods died succumbing to injuries he suffered in an altercation outside of Caesar’s Showbar on December 13th. Apparently a melee that occurred inside the area gay bar led outside, where Woods was fatally beaten. Police have charged a 20 year old man in connection to incident, but they do not believe it is a hate crime.
An early Christmas gift – the fine folk from Fred Phelps Westboro Baptist Church have taken aim at Lady Gaga, and announce they will protest her appearance January 7th, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri, apparently because “thou haste a whore’s forehead.” I think?

Russian Church Head Condemns Discrimination But Calls Gay Choice, Lithuania Amends Anti-Gay Bill, Prime William, East Village Boys Christmas, David Jensen, Adam Coussins
Patriarch Krill, the presumptive head of the Russian Orthodox Church, said Wednesday that while the church contends homosexuality is a sin; homosexuals should not be subject to discrimination. According the Associated Press, Krill said “those who sin” must not be punished, and that the church therefore opposes discrimination of any kind, but added that homosexual marriage must not be considered equal to heterosexual marriage. “We accept all the choices a person makes,” stated Krill, “in terms of sexuality as well.” His comments come as Russia continues to be seen as country that routinely condemns gays, particularly the mayor of Moscow, who considers homosexuals to be satanic, that despite the country having decriminalized homosexuality in 1993, and Krill’s suggestion that homosexuality is a choice comes as that claim continues to be scientifically refuted.
The National Post reports that Tuesday Lithuania legislators amended a law set to take effect in March, 2010 that would have banned the promotion of homosexuality. The law, passed in July, would have prohibited the “public dissemination” of information favourably promoting homosexuality, contending that it presented harm to the mental health, and the physical, intellectual, and moral development of minors. The law was soundly condemned as being homophobic as well imposing broad censorship and violate Lithuania’s commitment to human rights as a member of the European Union as well as the United Nations.
Prince William spend a night on the streets of London last week, in an effort to both raise awareness and educate himself on the plight of the homeless, particularly homeless youth, the Guardian reporting that William slept little and was nearly run down by a street sweeper.

Ugandan President Commits To Veto Anti-Gay Bill, Republicans, Matthew Morrison Not Gay, Jane Lynch Sings, Hottest Brazilian, Hommes Like, Kevin Jonas Wears Short Shorts, Zac Efron
DC Agenda is reporting that senior United States officials have been assured that the president of Uganda will block the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, Jon Tollefson, a State Department spokesperson saying that President Yoweri Museveni has “pledged on several occasions ... that he would stop progress on the anti-gay bill.”
Meanwhile, CBS reports that five Republican Representatives have written a letter to President Yoweri Museveni requesting that he veto the legislation, saying that their religious faith requires them to oppose the measure because it “contradicts the foundational Christian belief in the inherent dignity and worth of all men and women.”
An awkward Elle magazine interview with Glee marvel Matthew Morrison, L the interviewer beginning by saying “so, Matt, you’re a musical theatre star who’s been interviewed by The Advocate and much discussed on Manhunt.com and you star in Glee, a program that’s referred to as the ‘gayest show on TV.’ You must feel particularly proud being the first gay man to grace this page,” to which Morrison replies “I’m not gay” and then things take a turn for the worse.
Entertainment Weekly has the scoop that Glee joy Jane Lynch successfully campaigned creator Ryan Murphy, and her Sue Sylvester will ... sing, the song, for the time being, top secret.
The hottest Brazilian male model, in something close to an upset, is the smoking sexy Mateus Verdelho, although, are not all five finalists winners?
From the newest L’Officiel Hommes, a series aptly titled “What We Really Like” featuring Jon Kortajarena, Chad White, and the great Garrett Neff among others.

Zac Efron, meanwhile, in Aspen, Colorado, dresses for success in the snow.

David Bahati, Shreveport Extends Anti-Discrimination Laws, Katy Perry Transphobic, Peggy Noonan Blames Adam Lambert, Spock Gay Sex
The BBC, perhaps as an act of penance, publishes another reminder regarding Uganda’s proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill, and the critically criminal consequences the measures carries for “acts of aggravated homosexuality.” David Bahati, the Bill’s sponsor, parroted the language of American Evangelicals, continues to contend that in Uganda “we don’t recognise homosexuality as a right. We are after the sin, not the sinners. We love them, and we want them to repent and come back. It’s not an inborn orientation, it’s a behaviour learnt, and it can unlearnt. That’s why we are encouraging churches and mosques to continue rehabilitating and counselling these people.”
Shreveport, Louisiana City Council Monday, according to the Shreveport Times, voted unanimously to approve a resolution supporting Mayor Cedric Glover’s executive order that protects city employees, job applicants, and city contractors from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.
GLAAD is none too happy with Katy Perry, the “singer” who has made a career co-opting a faux-homosexuality stance, having posted a ridiculous tweet December 6th mocking what appears to be a transgender man, Perry’s loathsome, inane comments certainly the markings of a pop cultural imposter, or at the very least, someone deeply disconnected.
Peggy Noonan – throwing caution to the wind and in return catching crazy – manages to locate the source of all of society’s ills and it is Adam Lambert, naturally, Noonan’s nutty declaration coming courtesy of the Wall Street Journal.
A love story for this or any other age (or other galaxy), thanks to an ingenious reediting of a Zachary Quinto audio book, giving life to love that now dares speak its name – Capitan Kirk and Spock. Obviously, as a warning, it is NSFW.

Mexico City Legislature Legalizes Gay Marriage, Martha Stewart Celebrates Same Sex Marriages, Colin Farrell To Attend Brother’s Gay Wedding Reception
The Associated Foreign Press reports that the legislature of Mexico City, Mexico has approved gay marriage, the first such law to ever pass in a Latin American country. A spokesperson for the measure’s sponsor, assemblyman Davi Razu, said that the bill was approved by 39 votes in favour and 20 against, with 5 abstentions. The spokesperson Oscar Oliver, added that the Mexico City legislators defeated an opposition amendment to the gay marriage measure that would have prevented same sex couples from adopting. The law takes effect in February. Antonio Medina, an activist, said “we’ve got to celebrate. It’s a social and cultural breakthrough that acknowledges a historic debt owed the gay community,” adding “let’s hope the conservatives won’t manage to reverse it by taking if before the Supreme Court of Justice.”
Martha Stewart Weddings Winter 15 Anniversary issue celebrates the magazine’s first same sex marriage, capturing the wedding of Good As You blogger Jeremy Hooper and Andrew Shulman, which took place June 14th, 2009, in Litchfield, Connecticut.
The Irish Independent is reporting that Colin Farrell is flying from Los Angeles, California to Dublin this weekend to celebrate his brother Eamon and his husband Steve Mannion, the couple having marrying in Canada early this year.

Dustin Lance Black On Hope And Homophobia, 8: The Mormon Proposition Sundance Protests, Ricky Martin Denounces Hate, CNN’s Gay Porn Star
Dustin Lance Black, you might remember from a post months ago, caused a polite commotion when the student body at Hope College, in tiny Holland, Michigan, extended an invitation for the Academy Award winning screenwriter to appear on campus, attend a screening of Milk, and deliver a lecture, only to have the dean of students denounce Black and his brand of advocacy – he suggested that Black’s discussion would only prove “hurtful” to the campus - and in essence ban Lance from campus. Writing in the Daily Beast, Black discusses his battling back against administration of Hope College, and discovering that homophobia, rooted in fear continues to find a home.
On Thursday afternoon, the organizers of the annual Sundance Film Festival announced that the much discussed documentary 8: The Mormon Proposition, the Reed Cowan directed, Dustin Lance Black narrated look at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ unhealthy and seemingly unusual involvement in helping to pass the gay marriage ban in California in 2008, would premiere at the festival this January. Hours later, the protests began.
A surprisingly strong statement from Ricky Martin, first published in English on his website earlier this month, and reprinted this Saturday in Spanish, condemning anti-gay hate crimes, a response to the hateful, horrific killing of 19 year Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado, murdered in Puerto Rico, Martin’s birthplace, Martin writing passionately that “the murders of James Byrd, Matthew Shepard, Jorge Steven Lopez, Marcelo Lucero, Luis Ramirez and countless others who were victims of violent ‘hate crimes’ should be completely unacceptable to every human being, because we’re all human being. It’s up to us to change the paradigm. One of the meanings of tolerance is ‘the capacity to endure pain or hardship.’ Another is ‘the act of allowing something.’ To me, those don’t seem to encompass acceptance by any definition. So how about this? Instead of saying ‘we need to tolerate diversity’ why not say ‘we need to accept diversity.’”
CNN, apparently inadvertently, drafted an adult film star of gay epics as one of its citizen journalists, the one and only Collin O’Neal, who, when reporting on a serious storm in South Florida, in a tank top and shorts, manages to be more credible (and cuter) than most, if not all, television weather personalities.

China’s Government Backed Gay Bar Opens, John Amaechi, Brittany Murphy Remembered, Chris And Liam Hemsworth, Jonatas Faro, Jamie Dornan
After a three week delay, the Associated Foreign Press reports that the first government backed gay bar has opened in the tourist town of Dali, in the Yunnan province of China. Homosexuality was classified a mental illness in China until 2001, and remains a sensitive issue. The idea behind the bar was to create an environment where gays and lesbians could meet, seeking friendship, support, and a safe place to gather information on HIV/AIDS, an exercise that health and government officials is important as new HIV infection continue to rise. In 2005, the newspaper China Daily estimated there to be at least 20 million gay Chinese, but few come out.
Former NBA player John Amaechi, who came out after his professional career ended in 2007, tells the BBC that Gareth Thomas, the British rugby star who came out publically over the weekend, can expect to continue to encounter struggles, saying “when people learn you are gay, often that can squash your definition so all the good stuff goes and you just become ‘some gay rugby player,’ which is quite difficult for many athletes to deal with.”
Brittany Murphy remembered.
More images of Jason Lewis filming the pilot for Rio, in, well, Rio de Janero, Brazil, joined by the smoking sexy Brazilian Jonatas Faro.
NinetyFive Chapel Market is the title of a new anthology collecting the work of photographer Mariano Vivanco, who captures Jamie Dornan and other sizzling sexy male models at the beginning of their careers.

Brittany Murphy, Supporting Scott Brison, BBC Warned, Arguments Heard In Inmate Gender Reassignment Surgery Request
Brittany Murphy has died. The actress was 32. Her mother reportedly discovered her body early Sunday morning in Los Angeles, California, Murphy having gone into cardiac arrest, the Los Angeles Times reporting that she was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the National Post, Liberal Member of Parliament Scott Brison has been inundated with support after an article about Brison, who is openly gay, appeared in the Globe and Mail featuring the MP’s Christmas card that features Scott, his husband Maxime St. Pierre, and the couple’s golden retriever Simba and the comments section was quite quickly with hateful, homophobic postings, the paper taking the unusual step of closing the section less than an hour after it was opened to moderation. Brison, speaking from his home in Cheverie, Nova Scotia, said that he “had so many positive e-mails, calls from over the last few days from across the riding, across Canada and around the world,” adding that “the overwhelming opinion of Canadians is that we’re looking forward to a day where a Christmas card showing two partners and a dog, next to fields in rural Nova Scotia is not a big deal. In fact, I never expected there to be a news story in the first place; it’s just a simple card. Politicians sending family Christmas card is not news.”
The London Times reports that the BBC has been warned by “government’s equality czar that it could face legal sanctions if comments made by the public on its website fall foul of Labour’s new anti-discrimination laws.” Thursday, the BBC’s World Service section of its online news page, hosted a discussion that asked “Should homosexuals face execution” ahead of a program on Uganda’s proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill, but the comments section garnered over six hundred posting, only two hundred which were approved as being appropriate by the moderators.
The Associated Press is reporting that arguments will be heard in a Boston, Massachusetts federal court regarding the request of a murderer seeking to have the state pay for gender reassignment surgery. Michelle Kosilek, born Robert, has been living as a woman in all male prison since being sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her wife Cheryl in 1990. In 2000, she sued the state, saying its refusal to provide the surgery violated her constitutional right to protection against cruel and unusual punishment.

Two Top Soccer Stars Closeted, Dave Franco, William Eustace, Francisco Lachowski, Both Sides Of Hayden Christensen
A reminder that the coming out of star rugby player Gareth Thomas is more the exception rather than the rule, the Independent on Sunday reporting that the foremost British public relations manager told two top soccer stars to stay in the closet because “football remains in the dark ages, steeped in homophobia.” Max Clifford says “it’s a fact that homophobia in football is as strong now as it was 10 years ago. If you’d asked me in 2000 whether I thought we’d have a famous, openly gay footballer by 2010 I would have said yes,” adding “You look across society and see openly gay people in music, movies, television, politics, the clergy, and it’s not a problem, nor in many sports. It’s not that footballers are homophobic but the fans can be vicious.”
Dave Franco, the cuter, younger brother of James, is featured in the latest edition of GQ Magazine.
Male model William Eustace is on the cover of Indie Magazine, the image equally interesting and odd.
Male model extraordinaire Francisco Lachowski appears in the stunningly sexy series “I Miss You Timothy.”

Obama Administration Again Defies Same Sex Benefit Order, New Mexico Marriage Amendment, Gareth Thomas, Benjamin Brady, Dean Sheremet Free
The Obama administration Friday again deliberately defied a federal court order to provide insurance benefits to the wife of a lesbian court employee in San Francisco, arguing, awkwardly, that the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act in fact denies coverage for same sex couples since by definition, the act does not acknowledge any marriage other than that of a man and woman.
A bill filed Wednesday in New Mexico proposes to amend the state’s constitution to define marriage as that existing only between one man and one woman. Republican Senator William Sharer sponsored the application for the amendment. It is the second such bill Sharer has proposed.
Rugby star Gareth Thomas made his first public appearance since coming out, entering a match between his Cardiff Blues team and a team from Toulouse, France, Thomas playing a total of eight minutes in a 23-7 loss. Of note was the absence of reaction to Thomas’ appearance, the team, as well as the rugby world apparently beyond homophobia. David Young, the Cardiff director of rugby, said of Gareth’s coming out, “the story has no impact. It has absolutely nothing to do with his rugby. What he does behind closed doors is his own business. We really don’t care about that. As a man and a rugby player, he has done great things,” adding, profoundly, “I am surprised that in 2009 there are people who think this is a big deal. To us it is no deal.”
The Gods of Stadium rugby calendar – Dieux du Stade – is so popular that a coffee table book containing an additional 120 images is scheduled to be released, the first look at the sexy, steamy cover.
An announcement Friday from Mrs. Tom Brady, that she, Gisele Bundchen, and her husband Tom Brady have selected Benjamin as the first name of the couple’s baby boy.
Dean Sheremet filed formally for divorce Thursday, Sheremet liberated from a life as a beard to one LeAnn Rimes.

America Argues Anti-Homosexuality Bill Sets Dangerous Example, British Rugby Star Gareth Thomas Comes Out, Australian Rugby Training
Late Friday, Assistant American Secretary of State Johnnie Carson said that the American government is urging Uganda to reject the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, arguing that passage of the proposal could encourage other African countries to consider similar law. “We believe that this legislation is a violation of human rights,” Carson said, adding “We are concerned that if this legislation passes that it could in fact encourage others to do this. We will not have a double standard on human rights. We are opposed to this kind of legislation whether it is in Rwanda or any country in Africa.”
British Lions rugby star Gareth Thomas, who came out to family and close friends three years ago, comes out publically, the 35 year old courageously saying “I have been through all sorts of emotions with this, tears, anger, and absolute despair. I wasn’t sure if I ever wanted to let people know, and, to be honest, I feel anxious about people’s reactions and the effect it might have on my family. It’s been really tough for me, hiding who I really am, and I don’t want it to be like that for the next young person who wants to play rugby, or some frightened kid. My parents, my family and my friends all love and accept me for who I am, and even if the public are upset by this, I know the love of those people who mean the most to me will never change.”

New Jersey (And The World) Needs More Mr. Conover’s, CNN New Year’s Eve Gayest Ever, Matthew Mitcham, Jason Lewis, Brett Robinson Wet
An articulate and thoughtful letter to the editor of the Shore News Today from one James Conover – not, as is emphasised, the soccer coach – who hails from Egg Harbor Township in New Jersey, writing on the battle over gay marriage in the state, who issues a challenge for third time to anyone who will “provide a rational, fact-based argument upon the rule of law concerning this topic (gay marriage), instead of spouting off nonsensical religious/moral claims similar to those used by separation apologists.” Mr. Conover, not surprisingly, finds no takers, but does author an intelligent essay dismissing the irrational rhetoric of those opposed to same sex marriage, who like to traffic in the nonsensical. Mr. Conover concludes by writing “if the proposed bill currently before the Senate passes, that would be a great thing; gay people may then have the opportunity to share in the same equal rights and privileges afforded to heterosexual people. If it does not, rest assured that universal law of inevitability will soon override ignorance and intolerance, much the same way as it has done in Canada, Australia, several European countries, as well as Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Iowa, and Washington, D.C.” We need more individuals like Mr. James Conover; many, many, many more.

Proposition 8 Federal Trail To Be Televised, Mayor Fenty Signs D.C. Gay Marriage Measure, Ash Stymest’s Gay Moment, Jon Kortajarena
From Law.com, a report that the Judicial Council of the 9th Circuit Thursday, gave authorization to allow for a new experimental program that would permit certain, civil non-jury trials to be televised. According to the report, “Cases to be considered for the pilot program, and the distribution details, will be decided by each district’s chief judge, in consultation with the 9th Circuit Judge Alex Kozinski. In San Francisco it is the Northern District of California’s chief judge, Vaughn Walker, who is presiding over the federal challenge to Prop 8.” Walker had hinted that the trail may be televised weeks ago, before Thursday’s announcement, although the defendants in the trail are on record as opposing it, saying that anti-gay marriage witness would be subjected to “harassment and retribution.”
Washington D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty Friday signed the measure legalizing gay marriage in the United States’ capital, in a public ceremony. The law, to take effect, must now pass a thirty day period of Congressional review.

Uganda Begins Anti-Homosexuality Bill Debate, Andrew Cowles Files Formal Complaint Against Jan Moir, Closet Rugby Guy, Stuart Martin, Bruce Weber
The Times reports that Friday, members of the Ugandan Parliament will debate the draft of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, introduced in October by David Bahati; it famously proposes the death penalty for “aggravated acts” of homosexuality. The Bill states that “same sex attraction is not an innate and immutable characteristic” and suggests life sentences for consensual gay sex. Bahati contends that homosexuality is ‘totally repugnant, it is repulsive, it’s not something you would want to do if you have your normal faculties functioning.”
According to NPR, there may be opposition to the Bill within Uganda, but the taboo surrounding homosexuality silences those against.
Andrew Cowles, the husband of the late Boyzone star Stephen Gately, formally filed an official complaint with the British Press Complaints Commission Thursday, according to the Guardian, against Jan Moir and her infamous Daily Mail column about Gately’s death. Cowles has complained citing breaches of accuracy, intrusion into grief or shock and discrimination.

Greetings And Gay Marriage From Asbury Park, Anti-Gay Graffiti Arrest, Brody Jenner Beached, Asher Roth Comes Out, Matthew Goode’s Pubic Hair
According to the Park Press, Ashbury, New Jersey City Council Wednesday evening said that intend to pass a resolution in support of marriage equality, perhaps as soon as the morning of December 24th, Mayor Ed Johnson saying “I think this is part of the path forward.” Once passed, Asbury Park would become the fourth municipality in New Jersey to support same sex marriage, following Maplewood, Red Bank, and South Orange. Mayor Johnson, openly gay, married his partner, Jeff Lundenberger, six years ago in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Asbury Park cultivates a reputation as being inclusive and progressive.

Canada’s First Same Sex MP Christmas Card Collects Criminally Homophobic Comments
Liberal Member of Parliament Scott Brison, his husband Maxime St. Pierre, and the couple’s cute golden retriever Simba posed for a Christmas card sent to the constituents of his rural Nova Scotia riding. It was, according to a report in the Globe and Mail Wednesday, well received, with “no negative comments or raised eyebrows.” However, less than an hour after the article was posted online, the editors took the usual step of not only disabling the comments feature, but offering an explanation, stating that “comments have been closed due to an overwhelming number of hateful and homophobic remarks. We appreciate that readers want to discuss this issue, but we can’t allow our site to become a platform for intolerance.” So you know, before being closed, a great many of the comments championed Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill that proposes to cleanse the county of gays, arguing that Canada should follow suit, and blaming former Prime Minister Pierre Eliot Trudeau for the collapse of Canada’s traditional values.

Portugal Pushes Gay Marriage, Argentine Gay Activists Take Action, BBC Called Irresponsible, Matthew Mitcham, Scott Herman, Jake Gyllenhaal
A proposal by the Portuguese government to make gay marriage legal in that county is almost certain to pass, the Socialist led government, with full support from other left of center parties, maintaining a majority in Parliament. Portugal would become the sixth European country to legalize same sex marriage, following Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden, and would do so by amending the definition of marriage by removing references to marriage as that only existing between a man and a woman. The law would take effect in April, 2010, a full month before a scheduled four day visit by Pope Benedict XVI.
On Tuesday, Argentina’s gay activists began a campaign to compel that country’s government to legalize same sex marriage, a day of action being called for next week, when simultaneous appeals will be filed at courts in Buenos Aries and in other provinces throughout the country. The Supreme Court is currently considering whether to allow gay marriage, two weeks after a lower court blocked what was to be the first same sex wedding between Alejandro Freyre and Jose Maria Di Bello.
Predictably, the United Kingdom National Union of Journalists condemned a BBC World Service talkboard discussion that asked whether gays should be executed, ahead of a program titled Africa Have Your Say, which was to discuss the proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill before the Ugandan Parliament. The NUJ believes that the discussion was overly sensationalized, failed to adhere to the BBC editorial standards, and seemed to suggest that BBC was sanctioning the hatred of gays, mostly, the Union argues, because the online discussion was poorly moderated, and invited hateful, vulgar homophobic comments that had little to do with the debate over the Ugandan law.

County Commissioner Bill James Spews Stupidity, Clay Aiken Ends Vote Controversy, Trans Benefits, Ben Cohen Calendar, Adam Lambert, Zachary Quinto
The Mecklenburg County Commissioners, in North Carolina, approved an expanded and strengthened domestic partnership benefits policy Tuesday evening. The new policy permits a County employee in a same sex relationship to receive county benefits for their partner. During the debate, one of the county commissioners, Democrat Vilma Leake, delivered an impassioned speech that referenced the death of her son to AIDS related complications, Leake saying “A son that I birthed and died of AIDS and I did not know that ... in 2010 I would be sitting here ... to defend his lifestyle.” At that point, another county commissioner, Bill James, a Republican, said, “Your son was a homo, really?” Leake responded by saying “I’m going to hit you, don’t talk about my son that way.” James has yet to apologize for his comments, but did issue a statement that said Leake was “a religious hypocrite” who “used her son’s lifestyle” and AIDS related death to justify voting to approve benefits to afford individuals the right to use tax dollars to engage in the same behaviour that resulted in her son’s death.
Clay Aiken removed his name from Wake County, North Carolina voter roll, thereby ending an official inquiry into his qualifications to vote in the county. Aiken had been the subject of an investigation after he posted a message on his web site in October calling Wake school board officials “selfish idiots” and elections records later revealed he had voted in the election using his mother’s address.
Wednesday, New York Governor David A. Paterson signed an executive order that will effectively extend anti-discrimination protections to transgendered New York State employees, and although the statue will apply only to state agencies, gay and transgender rights advocacy groups contend it is the first step towards an inclusion of gender identity in state law.
Beautiful big Ben Cohen has his own calendar, the first one hundred copies signed by Ben, all of the details as well as displays of Cohen via the official Ben Cohen web site.
Adam Lambert was admittedly not always attuned to being gay, because, according to Adam, he had a girlfriend at age 14, the American Idol runner up saying “she was 18 and her name was BJ and she was from Compton. Can you imagine this little red head kid and a big black girl? She taught me how to make out.”

Madonna Apes Italian Neo-Realism For Dolce And Gabbana, Project Runway Season Seven, Sexy HIV/AIDS Calendar, Ripa Outs Cooper, Andy Murray Shirtless
An exclusive preview of the new Dolce and Gabbana 2010 spring and summer campaign, featuring Madonna as photographed by Steven Klein. The series, which Madonna, as always au current, reclaiming her Italian heritage in an obvious homage to neo-realism, does, according to Swide, demonstrate that although “Madonna’s private life is seldom out of the papers but this new Dolce and Gabbana campaign is unlike anything you have seen before. Exit the paparazzo, these shots by Steven Klein reveal much more than a grainy stolen picture, they showcase an intimate, real aspect to the ultimate icon’s life.”

BBC Website Asks Whether Gays Should Be Executed, British Homophobic Murderer Sentenced To Life, Sexual Assaults Within The LGBT Community
The BBC website Wednesday, according to the Guardian, asked users “should homosexuals face execution?” Posted on the BBC News premoderated talkboard, the thread was intended to stimulate discussion ahead of the latest Africa Have Your Say program, and the post explained “yes, we accept it is a stark and disturbing question, but this is the reality behind an anti-homosexuality bill being debated Friday by the Ugandan parliament, which would see some homosexual offences punishable by death.” The problem, naturally, was the preponderance of comments were from British citizens and they were mostly, if not all, horrifically homophobic, including one from Aaron in Freetown, who wrote “Bravo to the Ugandans for this wise decision, bright step in eliminating this menace from your society. We hope other African nations will also follow your bold step.” The Africa Have Your Say program aired at 4:00 PM, and 5:30 PM the headline of the discussion thread had been changed to “should Uganda debate gay execution.”
David Kilcullen, the 46 year old convicted of murder and attempted murder, after an attack this past March on an elderly gay couple, was sentenced today to life in prison, receiving a sentence of at least 32 years. The infirmed 59 year old Gerald Edwards was the target of the attack, Kilcullen intent on robbing the man and then killing him, but Edwards’ partner Chris Bevan, 56 years old was also at home, and Kilcullen attempted to kill him too. In sentencing, Judge Brian Baker, according to the report from the United Kingdom Press Association, said that “there was at least an undercurrent of homophobic attitude” to the attacks, telling Kilcullen “you showed no mercy to your victims and your behaviour that night defies belief. They were vulnerable and you knew it. You saw an opportunity to extort money and thought you had found an easy target.”
Police in Lancashire, England continue their work with a campaign meant to raise awareness that sexual assaults in the gay, lesbian, and transgendered community are often not reported, with only two being reporting in more than a year period. The BBC quotes Detective Inspector Sue Cawley, of the Lancashire Police as saying “confidence in reporting sexual offences in the LGBT community seems to be low and we want to make sure that all members of the community feel comfortable reporting this type of horrific crime. We have a team of specially trained officers to support victims of rape and we want to make sure that members of the LGBT community have the information that they need to report such crime.”

Anti-Bias Ordinance Passes, Rep Wants D.C. Gay Marriage Revoked, Gay Couple Attack Guilty Verdict, Out West, Brazil’s Best Male Models, Kerry Degman
The Salt Lake City Tribune reports that by an 8-0 margin, Salt Lake County Council passed an anti-bias proposal that will protect gays and the transgendered from facing discrimination in areas of employment or housing. The seemingly sudden surge in support for the measure – it was initiated in July of 2009 – is largely due to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who supported the ordinance. The proposal, set to take effect in January, will affect some 170,000 residents.
Utah Representative Jason Chaffetz, Republican, again, according to the Salt Lake City Tribune, renewed his promise to prevent Washington D.C. from signing into law a measure meant to legalize same sex marriage. The D.C. Council passed the measure by an 11-2 vote Tuesday, and it will be signed by Mayor Adrian Fenty before Christmas. Congress, the Senate, or the President can revoke the law within a thirty day legislative period, and according to Chaffetz, he will introduce legislation in January to do just that, saying “It’s going to be exceptionally difficult because Democrats have us outnumbered by large amounts. Nevertheless, we’re going to try.”
The United Kingdom Press Association reports that 48 year old David Kilcullen was found guilty of murder and attempted murder and is facing a sentence of life imprisonment Wednesday after being convicted of an attack on an elderly gay couple in south-east London this past March. 59 year old Gerald Edwards was stabbed four times and died; his partner, 56 year old Chris Bevan was also stabbed, but survived.

Scott Evans’ Care Bear Crush, Fine Sean Faris, Kellan Lutz New Face Of Calvin Klein Underwear, Diesel, Golden Globes, Joe McElderry Says He's Not Gay
Scott Evans, Instinct magazine December/January cover man, and, of course, the dreamy, steamy Officer Oliver Fish on daytime drama’s One Life To Live, answers the magazine’s questionnaire, admitting he makes a marvelous lasagna, loves candy, and is embarrassed to admit his love for Care Bears 2.
Sexy Sean Faris appears on the cover of the new Men’s Health magazine, removing almost all his clothing, but sadly stopping just short.
Fox 411 is reporting that Calvin Klein has hired hotness Kellan Lutz to appear in a new advertisement series that will imitate the infamous Mark Walberg underwear campaign of the early nineteen-nineties.
Diesel, aiming for truth in advertising, launches its 2010 spring and summer campaign captioned Sex Sells.
The Golden Globes nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles, California, an underlining of just how poor film was this past year, and how television continues to be a rich art form. Glee earned four nominations and Up in the Air received six, the most for a movie. Perhaps not all that surprising, The Hurt Locker, the best, most original American film of 2009 earned only three nominations, but none for acting.
18 year old Joe McElderry, so curiously cute and terribly talented, is the 2009 X-Factor champion, and he tells the London Mirror, that while still a virgin, he is not, despite suggestions to the contrary, gay. “I’m straight,” said Joe, adding that “I’ve had girlfriends, but I don’t have one right now. I haven’t slept with anyone, but I’m a young lad and I’m concentrating on my music.” In an article published Sunday in the Mirror prior to the X-Factor final, it was revealed that Joe was tormented at school, labeled “gay boy” and that he was taunted by bullies over his supposed sexuality, but that story, full of odd details, does little to dispel rampant rumors he might be a member of the home team.

Washington D.C. Council Approves Gay Marriage Measure
On Tuesday, Washington D.C. Council voted 11-2 for final approval to a measure legalizing gay marriage, and according to the Washington Post, Mayor Adrian Fenty will now sign the measure, and if it survives a thirty day legislative review period, will take effect in the spring of 2010. In order for the bill to be blocked, the Democratic controlled House, Senate, and President Obama would all have to sign off on a disapproval resolution within that thirty day time frame, which gay advocacy groups contend not likely. There are celebrations scheduled for Tuesday evening in the Capital, and although opposition to gay marriage from the usual suspects still exists, the atmosphere is one of joy and jubilation. Deacon Maccubbin, 66 year old owner of Lamba Rising book store in the city, said he never thought the time would come that same sex marriage would be legal. “I’m really blown away by this. When I came to Washington in 1966, we didn’t even have basic rights. We didn’t even have a police department that would talk to us, but we had a supportive community and that continues to this day.” Erika Zommer framed the success slightly differently, the 27 year old saying “this is a moment in history that I think all gay people have been waiting for. But I think with my generation, I knew this day would come.”

Honduran Gay Activist Assassinated, Gordon Brown Fights For Gay Rights, Christian Register Loses Appeal, HIV/AIDS Rates Rise In Seattle
Walter Trochez, a 25 year old Honduran gay activist, was assassinated Sunday, December 13th. Trochez, according to a report from Direland, was a member of the National Resistance Front, and had been active in not only protesting against a recent government coup d’état, but “had been very active recently in documenting and publicizing homophobic killings and crimes committed by the forces behind the coup, which is believed to have been the motive for his murder. He had been trailed for weeks before his murder by thugs believed to be members of the state security forces.” According to the report, Amnesty International is calling for an investigation into the killing.
According to the BBC, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, in an interview with gay magazine Attitude, said he is working with France and Spain to have those European countries recognize British civil partnerships, but that he aimed to “go further than that,” having all of Eastern Europe formally recognize gay unions stating that the time to show “respect for gay people was due” in both “Eastern Europe as well as Western Europe.”
The United Kingdom Press Association is reporting that a Court of Appeal ruling Tuesday that a London council was entitled by law to compel a Christian registrar, Lillian Ladele, to conduct same sex civil partnership ceremonies despite her objections to officiating at such registrations “as a matter of religious conscience.” Ladele has since resigned from the council, leaving her position in September, but she had sought restitution. Justice Lord Neuberger, in rendering the decision, said that “however much sympathy one may have with someone such as Ms Ladele, who is faced with choosing between giving up a post she plainly appreciates or officiating at events which she considers to be contrary to her religious beliefs, the legislature has decided that the requirements of a modern liberal democracy ... include outlawing discrimination in the provision of goods, facilities and services on grounds of sexual orientation, subject only to very limited exceptions.”
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer says that “despite education and outreach efforts, the number of gay men contracting HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases has been increasing for much of this decade” in the Seattle, Washington area. More troubling, according to the article, is that “King County health officials worry that an anticipated 70 percent cut in the amount of state money allocated for HIV/AIDS programs could complicate prevention and treatment efforts.”

Matthew Shepard 1995 Video Interview Unearthed, Complaint Filed Against Nova Scotia Mayor, African Anti-Gay Hate, Buju Banton Conspiracy Theorists
Joshalot has unearthed an all too brief video clip from 1995 of Matthew Shepard and his then boyfriend being interviewed by filmmaker Tim Kirkman for a documentary titled Dear Jesse, a work that examined differences and similarities between the openly gay director and the notorious homophobe Jesse Helms, the five-term Republican Senator from North Carolina who fathered the kind of violent political rhetoric now familiar. Shepard was at the time an undergraduate at Catawba College, in Salisbury, North Carolina, a college, as Shepard mentions that was and is conservative owing in part to its connection to the United Church of Christ.
Last week I posted about Truro, Nova Scotia, and plans by the city council to close a central park, an effort led in large part by Mayor Bill Mills, who insists that the area is provincially well known as being a “rendezvous” for gay men. Monday, the Truro Daily News reports that resident Darryl Moir, openly gay, has filed a formal complaint against Mills, and wants the mayor charged with committing a hate crime.
ABC News on efforts to eliminate homosexuality not only in Uganda, but in Africa as a whole, with countries like Burundi, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Sudan seeking to implement measures that would make being gay an offense punishable by prison or death.
The Miami Herald reports on Buju Banton, currently in a Miami federal detention centre awaiting an appearance in court on conspiracy drug charges, a number of supporters of the viciously homophobic Jamaican reggae artist stunningly suggesting that the arrest of Banton is a conspiracy plotted by an unnamed gay group.

Ben Rakestrow, Catholic University Gay Allies, Belfast LGBT Centre, Andrew Grande’s Avoidable Death, How I Met Your Mother Magic, Ugly Betty, Lost
More on brave British Trooper Ben Rakestrow from the Daily Mail, and the response since Rakestrow came out, the Trooper photographed at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, with his pink quilt atop his cot adorned with an image of Zac Efron.
A report from the Washington Post on Catholic University’s CUAllies, a small gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered student run advocacy group, with roughly forty or so members, that despite opposition from the school’s administration – their application to be formally recognized as an official student organization was recently rejected – continues to work to welcome, affirm, and protect the campuses gay students and staff members. The opposition to the CUAllies mirrors in large part the continuing ideological battle between gays and religion, because had the University approved the group’s application it would have appeared as though it were sanctioning homosexuality, which the Catholic Church continues to oppose. However, as CUAllies founder Robby Diesu says “we might not be an official group, but we’re winning. We have our own community … It’s empowering.”
From Belfast, Ireland, the Belfast Telegraph on the official opening of the first LGBT Centre in that city, housing the Cara-Friend, The Rainbow Project, and Lesbian Advocacy Services.
Andrew Grande, a 23 year old Panama City Beach, Florida man, who worked in gay porn as Dustin Michaels, died early Friday morning in a horrific incident caught on camera. After being pursued by police, Grande ingested a plastic bag containing marijuana, and while resisting arrest, was tasered by attending officers. Grande began choking, and despite the efforts of the police, Grande died. The report from the NBC affiliate WJHG contains the disturbing footage of the grotesque moments, captured by a camera crew that was filming the police department for an upcoming reality show.
A preview from USA Today of the 100th episode of How I Met Your Mother, the MGM magical musical episode that will feature, in addition to a number of revelations, an arrangement featuring 65 dancers and a 55 member orchestra.
I love Ugly Betty, this season the show’s best since its inception, and in addition to be rewarded by ABC with a timeslot shift from Friday to Wednesday, the show is welcoming the incomparable Jesse Tyler Ferguson, so great on Modern Family, back as Betty’s orthodontist! Entertainment Weekly has all the details.
The new trailer from ABC for Lost, and as a warning, it contains images some might find disturbing.
