Truro Nova Scotia To Close Public Park Known As Gay Rendezvous, China To Hold First Gay Pageant, Meet The Heroic Zack P.

Tiny Truro, Nova Scotia, according to a report by the CBC, is so very last century, the town council considering a motion to close a town park that has a reputation of being a public pick-up place for gay men, Mayor Bill Mills, who two years ago refused to allow a rainbow flag to flown, insisting it contradicted his Christianity, said that an area of Victoria Park is a “favourite pick-up spot for guys from all over the Maritime provinces,” adding that he is well aware that “they go up and have a rendezvous and then they go into the woods and do their thing. It’s been known for years and years and is becoming more and more of a problem.”

The Associated Foreign Press reports that the first gay beauty pageant will be held in China, the Mr. Gay China pageant to be held on January 15th in Beijing, ahead of the Mr. Gay World pageant to take place in Norway in February.

The Awl is in love with North Dakota’s own Zack P. as I am, and well, you should be too. The 21 year old gay man, an accidental activist, who love his hometown of Grand Forks, expect his town – and by extension, his state – do not love Zack, North Dakota still without legislation protecting discrimination in areas of employment and housing based on sexual orientation. A bill – SB2278 – was passed by the Senate before being defeated in the House last April. Zack wrote a number of letters to the editor of the Grand Forks Herald in the month after the bill failed to pass, and quite quickly afterward, he was evicted and fired from his duties at the town’s Masonic Temple, legal, because, well, North Dakota does not offer protections to homosexuals. The Awl has more of Zack, including information on a charity calendar put together featuring nothing but the cutie, all of the proceeds going to Zack.
