More on the history making municipal election Saturday, as the Houston Chronicle reports that Anise Danette Parker Saturday was elected the mayor of Houston, Texas, becoming the first openly gay person to lead a major American city. The victory is Parker’s seventh consecutive city election win, and Saturday night, Parker, 53 year old, after introducing her partner, Kathy Hubbard, their three children, and her mother Kay Parker, Anise said “i promise to give to citizens an administration of honesty, integrity and transparency. The only special interest will be the public. We are in this together. We rise or fall together.”
The Miami Herald reports that anti-gay Jamaican reggae performer Buju Banton has been in custody in Miami since Thursday on federal drug conspiracy charges. Drug Enforcement Administration agents say that Banton, who real name is Mark Anthony Myrie will be transferred to Tampa where the United States Attorney will charge his with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilos of cocaine.
Taylor Lautner hosted Saturday Night Live this week, and in one of the better sketches, playing a member of the North East Middle School’s Sparkle Players Show choir, came out with a fabulous and fierce dance performance, bringing his hot hips to the proceedings and well, as my friend Matthew points out at Gawker.TV, where the entire clip is linked, those hips don’t lie.
