Episcopalians Elect Lesbian Bishop, Canada Customs Holds Edmonton Gay Film, Marc Christian Confirmed Dead, George Michael, Naked Shawn Roberts, Hero

As expected, the Los Angeles, California Episcopalian Diocese elected a second openly gay bishop on Saturday, naming the Reverend Mary D. Glasspool of Baltimore, Maryland to the post.

Edmonton, Alberta filmmaker Trevor Anderson’s short film DINX was detained by agents at the Canadian Border Services Agency on October 21st and was subsequently investigated for obscenity. On November 24th, a month after the fact, Anderson received a letter from the CBSA informing him that the film, returning from a screening at the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival, although when Anderson asked why the film was held at the border, no answer was given. The film is about a bartender in a men’s burlesque club who goes back in time to relive a specific day in his childhood, and was winner of the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Calgary Fairy Tales gay and lesbian film festival in 2008.

Confirming what was reported weeks ago, the sister of Marc Christian MacGinnis, who was the ex-lover of Rock Hudson, has died. He was 56. Susan Dahl said he passed away on June 2nd, but that she did not release any information out of respect for her brother’s wish for privacy. In 1991 Christian convinced a jury that Hudson knowingly exposed him to AIDS, and he was awarded a multi-million dollar settlement. Hudson, who was diagnosed with the disease in 1984, but did not publically acknowledge the illness until July 1985, died from AIDS related complications in October of that year. Christian, who repeatedly tested negative, died from pulmonary disease. According, again, to his sister, Christian, who loved Frank Sinatra, began chain smoking in 1998, the day Sinatra died.

George Michael, who says at one point he “was existing on a balance of Starbucks and weed,” says in a interview that he is “surprised I’ve survived my own dysfunction.”

25 year old Canadian Shawn Roberts, the only reason to have ever endured Falcon Beach, is not only naked, but engaging in some man on man action in a film called Black Rain, Shawn seriously smoking sexy.
