Editorial Against Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill, Editorial For New Jersey Gay Marriage, Ambassador David Huebner, More Levi Johnston Leaked Pics

From the Guardian, an editorial on the looming passage of Uganda’s hateful and horrific Anti-Homosexuality Bill, rightly suggesting that “the proposed law is more a rant against homosexuality and the west than a workable piece of legislation intended for Uganda itself. Much of it consists of a list of unfounded claims, staring with the statement that ‘same sex attraction is not an innate and immutable characteristic.’ If passed – which looks likely, since its sponsor is a member of Uganda’s ruling party – the bill will continue to write hate into law.” The Guardian argues, again rightly, that although condemnation from outside the country will likely lead some to “fear the imposition of western liberal values. The far greater prejudice would be to tolerate an injustice in Africa that would not be tolerated at home.”

An equally impressive editorial from the North Jersey Herald, in New Jersey, arguing that State Legislators need to act courageously and pass a same sex marriage measure into law, and to replace civil unions, which the paper insists has “created a separate and unequal status for gay and lesbian couples,” and that “excluding gay and lesbian couples – and their children – from married family life helps no one. Anyone who opposes these marriages won’t have to join or bless them. But they will have to legally acknowledge them – and they’ll lose the gray area and confusion that has allowed bias against gay couple to persist under the civil union law.”
