Court Rules Proposition 8 Proponents Can Keep Campaign Strategy Private, Nevada Legalizes Male Prostitution, Glenn Beck Ally Talks AIDS Crazy Talk

Breaking new from the Los Angeles Times, who is reporting that “gay marriage supporters challenging the constitutionality of Proposition 8 lost their bid Friday to see the internal communications of those who supported the initiative when an appeals court ruled that disclosure would violate the 1st Amendment.” Lawyers seeking to overturn Proposition 8 had sought the private communications of campaign strategists arguing that the internal memos would reveal discrimination and intolerance motivated the constitutional amendment.

The Nevada State Board of Health Friday unanimously decided to amend the state health codes so that male sex workers can now be tested for infectious diseases, history made, of sorts, at least according the Las Vegas Sun.

Lord Christopher Monckton – the right wing climate denier du jour and a dangerous, deeply deranged man – has become a favourite of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and their Christian conservative counterparts, Monckton contending that climate change is a charade, a hoax. Media Matters Action Network has uncovered an interview the Lord gave in 1989 to the American Spectator in which he said that “there is only one way to stop AIDS. That is to screen the entire population regularly and to quarantine all carriers of the disease for life to halt the transmission of the disease to those who uninfected. Every member of the population should be blood-tested every month to detect the presence of antibodies against the disease, and all those found to be infected with the virus, even if only as carriers, should be isolated compulsorily, immediately, and permanently.” Limbaugh recently remarked that Monckton was the “voice of sanity.”
