The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday morning that they are deactivating running back Larry Johnson, releasing him from the remainder of this contract for conduct detriment rail to the team. Johnson was to return to the team today after being suspended for anti-gay comments he made, in addition to a number of negative comments made about Coach Todd Haley. The move by the NFL team insures that the man who used the word faggot with reckless abandonment will never break Priest Holmes all time rushing record, the subject of an online petition that beseeched the team’s management to drop Johnson before he was able to become the Chiefs’ franchise running back.

Smitherman, the first MPP to come out, who married his partner Christopher Peloso, is not required to announce his candidacy until January 1st, but took the opportunity to get ahead of the field; a field rumoured to have another gay man, former Winnipeg, Manitoba mayor Glen Murray, running as well.
