The 2009 Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles, by Chandra Wilson and Jim Parsons, Parsons particularly perfect as always despite the early hour, and he looks so cute when his nomination is announced.
Predictably, 30 Rock earned twenty two nominations, including, again, almost every actress who guest starred, although Selma Hayek was not and Mad Men captured sixteen nominations.
There were some obvious rights: Jim Parsons, for lead actor in a comedy series, so deceptively talented is he, Big Love for drama series, the show dark and daring in its third year, Aaron Paul for supporting actor in a drama series, phenomenal on Breaking Bad, The Flight of the Conchords for comedy series and star Jermaine Clement for lead actor in comedy series, the show so pitch perfect funny, Elizabeth Moss for lead actress in a drama series, who, like Parsons, is deceptively brilliant.
The obvious wrongs: Just one and that would be January Jones. That she, whose character of Betty Draper defined the second season of Mad Men, was not nominated is simply sinful.
The complete list of the nominees is available here.
