Using the guidelines employed by allied countries regarding gay men and women serving openly in the military as evidence, yet another attempt to repeal the ridiculous United States “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
Maura Tierney has released a statement that a tumor was found in her breast and that surgery is required, but until the course of treatment will be unknown. Last week, NBC announced that Parenthood, which stars Tierney, would be debuted in mid-season because of an undisclosed illness affecting Maura. I wish her well and a quick return.
Barney Frank, who is the Democratic Congressman representing the fourth district of Massachusetts, out and about in a swimming pool, playing volleyball, with other men, in a swimming pool, all of whom are playing volleyball.
Neil Patrick Harris was officially named the host of the 2009 Emmy Awards, but of course because you read this blog, you already knew that. You’re welcome! What you might not have known – till now – is that Neil Patrick intends to use his “robot” voice to emcee the affair.
The New York Times has a not too terribly kind review of Rufus Wainwright’s original opera Prima Donna.
Ed Hardy, the Axe Spray of clothing, the line’s designer Christian Audigier, Jon, from Kate and Jon Plus Eight, a big, plastic yellow penis, and a child. Seriously, anyone’s guess is as good as mine – anyone’s!

Hi Brian. Regarding the news about Maura Tierney, I was sad and dismayed to hear of her current situation. Here in the UK, it did make the BBC news website but tucked away in some corner so I only found out when I was browsing E!
As you know she is one of my favourite actresses and I sincerely hope that the short statement she issued conveys a positive outcome for this. It might not even be the 'c' word but I honestly hope she makes a full recovery whatever this is and that her docs caught her condition early.
Since I last posted you, I am now on season 13 of my re-watching of ER box sets and her portrayal as 'Abby' this season is so sweet and funny (compared to what I know is coming in season 14 - the darker side of her character).
I know its all fictional but that is testament of true skill when a TV character you see can make you really feel like you know them, like an old friend. I was trying to think the other day of other actors or actresses who can make you feel like that. There weren't many (Frances Conroy, Michelle Williams, the late Heath Ledger, Gregory Peck, Julia Roberts were all I could think of... but I was tired and suffering from lack of sleep!) Anyway, I digress... I was genuinely sad to read the news about MT, and I wish her a heartfelt "Get Well soon". I hope she gets back onto Parenthood (obviously pending the outcome of her treatment options) as it looked like it was going to be really good.
best wishes - Sharon :)
PS - You blog is so interesting to read. Your writing is excellent - I wish I could write as well as you do - well done :)
