Who Is Behind The New York State Senate Republican Coup? God, Silly.
The Republican coup Monday in the New York State Senate, the one led by the less than zero scruples of Pedro Espada and Hiriam Monserrate, did you know that God made it all happen. I know right, surprising, given he would appear almost too busy, what with disease, famine, war, and the general not good condition of the human spirit, but the whole oh no, gay marriage is likely to pass in a Democratic controlled Senate by the end of June thing caught his otherwise engaged eye and he intervened, answering the prayers of those who equate the right of gay men and women to register at Tiffany and Williams and Sonoma like everyone else a very real threat to the political and social fabric. “God always answers prayer,” said one Duane Motley (yes, the name is real, I checked) leader of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, who along with the National Organization for Marriage and other hate mongers acting out a Christian charade, oppose gay marriage with every breath they take. “We didn’t expect it quite today or this way, but we’re excited,” said Motley, as stunned as anyone else that God apparently actively listens to intolerance.
