The Barna Group, a southern California Christian based research group, released a study Monday suggested that popular held stereotypes by the Christian community about gays are simply wrong, and that “people who portray gay adults as godless, hedonistic, Christian bashers are not working with the facts,” that statement made by George Barna, the head of the company who conducted the poll. Barna continued that most of the data collected indicated that homosexuals are “interested in faith but not in the local church and do appear to be focused on the traditional tools and traditions that represent the comfort zone of most churched Christians,” adding that there is “less of a spiritual gap between straights and gays than many Americans would assume.”
The findings and the conclusions reached come just as new front line campaign begins in California, a grass roots movement set to gain support to have the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage overturned, and that will attempt to demonstrate that gay men and women are entitled to enjoy the same rights and benefits as heterosexuals, and that the covenant of marriage is a part of those rights.
A new study conducted by the Catalyst group found that despite an implied progressive attitude, the bias and discrimination faced by the LGBTQ community in corporate Canada still exists, and that many who identify as gay continue to hesitate in coming out at work for fear of either limiting or stalling their careers altogether. The date speaks of the “straight old boys club” as one whose membership continues to grow, frustrating the advancement and opportunities of gay men and women. The study also concluded that most gay men and women will resist identifying as homosexuals to their employers, believing that they risk being marginalized if they do.
