Mark Sanford And Sin

Republican Governor Mark Sanford’s salacious emails to his Argentina mistress, Maria, have been published by The State, who broke the story of the wayward politician. The story, which I have posted about earlier, is now sadder and scarier, and amid calls that he resign, I seriously worry about the state of Sanford’s mental faculties. The press conference, which I tried to follow via Twitter, was a disaster: incoherent, rambling and tedious, poorly planned – seriously, who ever thought it a good idea to have mostly African-American teenaged giggling girls behind the Governor need to be fired immediately – but I suppose that buried among the lies and recriminations is a lesson that sanctimonious moralizing – Sanford has been historically hateful towards homosexuals – fails and fails hard.
