Has Clay Aiken Been Dropped By The Charity He Help Found?

There are conflicting reports that Clay Aiken has been dropped by his own charity, the Bubel/Aiken Foundation opting to distance itself from Aiken, changing the name of the registered charity to the National Inclusion Project, Inc. on May 18th, 2009. Then the tale turns odd, with accusations alleging that a scary stalker planted the false story to discredit Aiken.

No, it's a simple name change. It's been planned for a very long time because they want the name to reflect what the charity does.

Thanks for the information. It seemed highly unlikely they would remove Aiken.

It was Clay's idea. He's been talking about it for at least two years. Several people who know him say even longer. He has stated several reasons: (1) The name does not reflect what the foundation does, (2) He doesn't want a celebrity name -- his own -- to be the drawing point (3) People continually mispronounce the name Bubel. Clay and his mother are on the board of directors, and his uncle, Jerry Aiken, is executive director. Clay continues to make personal appearances, perform, and raise money at foundation functions. A golfing event was held in Florida in January, and a gala is scheduled for October in Raleigh. Yes, this tale that he was dropped was indeed started by his stalker, who continues to spread lies and twist the truth.
