Department Of Justice Dismisses Gay Marriage Challenge, Jerry Brown Opposes Lifting Gay Marriage Ban, NO H8, UCLA Underwear Run, Israel Pride

The United States Department of Justice Thursday motioned to dismiss the first gay marriage case to be filed in a federal court, arguing that the venue is not the right one to examine legal questions raised by a same-sex couple already married in California who sought to have their legal union recognized outside California. That couple's filing was meant to force the Defense of Marriage Act, a hideous piece of political pandering passed in 1996, to be defended in court.

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and state Attorney General Jerry Brown are vehemently opposed to an effort underway to remove the state’s ban on same-sex marriage while a lawsuit that challenges Proposition 8 is currently before the courts. Brown and an attorney representing the Governor submitted papers late Thursday in a United States District Court in San Francisco that lifting the ban, however temporarily, would create a climate of confusion and of uncertainty.

There are many more faces added to the NO H8 campaign, including former United States Lieutenant Daniel Choi, discharged under the military ban on gays serving opening and super sexy Jack Mackenroth, he of Project Runway. The UCLA Underwear Run Wednesday went off, without a hitch and barely a stitch, and the Los Angeles Times gets to bottom of it all, and while it is not a Pride Parade, still fun, although the boys, a little lame. As an aside - Adam, love you!
