David Carradine, Koko Taylor, Some Men, Neil Patrick Harris Wants In Hugh Jackman’s Pants, Simon van Kempen, Anderson Cooper Celebrates Birthday

Actor David Carradine has died. He was 72. Best known as the star of seventies cult series Kung Fu and later of the Kill Bill franchise, Carradine, who was in Thailand working on a film, was found by a maid in a Bangkok hotel room with a cord wrapped around his neck and other parts of his body, according to initial reports. The story is still developing.

The great blues singer Koko Taylor died. She was 80. Long deemed on of the few true “Queen of the Blues,” Taylor was all about the Chicago sound, and having had the proud pleasure of seeing her perform twice at a tiny space in Toronto’s Annex, I can attest that Taylor, whose voice was like luxurious heartache, will be missed.

A new production of a play by Tony Award winning playwright Terrence McNally titled Some Men, which ran two years ago off-Broadway, is currently making its west coast premiere in San Francisco, and by happy happenstance the theme – a history of eight decades of gay history bookended by two gay marriages – could not be more relevant.

Tony Award host and all around dashing, debonair dandy Neil Patrick Harris wants to get into Hugh Jackman’s pants – literally – with Harris insisting that he intends to squeeze into the gold lame tight trousers worn by Jackman when the Hall of Fame DILF hosted the Tony Awards last. Oh Neil!

Someone named Simon van Kempen, a husband to one of the Real Housewives of New York City, who seems rather gay, is not, and he would like you to stop asking if he is thank you very much. To quote the far too unquoted Simon, “if I was gay, I would be gay, but I’m not!” I cannot tell you how many times I have heard that line.

Anderson Cooper (the Coop to his friends, of which you and I certainly are) celebrated his birthday June 3rd, last night, and was surprised by two friends and hilarity and calls for Regis Philbin soon ensued.
