Anti-Gay Vandalism At The Department Of Labor, Fort Worth Gay Bar Raid Under Investigation, Bruno School Scandal, Gay Way, Sex, Lies, And Sanford

You may by now have heard or have read that this month, June, the traditional month to celebrate gay pride and commemorate gay history, saw a spike of sorts in anti-gay sentiment, that including the vandalizing of a number of Pride posters placed at the United States Department of Labor offices in Washington, the first time, incidentally that the Department publically recognized gay pride. The Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, who initiated the installation of the posters, a series of which included eight significant gay Americans, among them Rachel Maddow, said that she would not tolerate any anti-gay misconduct saying, in a mass email sent Friday that while she does “not believe these actions represent the majority of our employees … respect for others in nonnegotiable at the United States Department of Labor.”

In the aftermath of arrests made by police in Fort Worth, Texas, after a gay bar there was raided there early Sunday morning, police chief Jeff Halstead is insistent that his department is not now nor ever has been targeting gays, and that an internal affairs investigation into the police led inspection of the Rainbow Lounge, which resulted in seven arrests and the injuring of twenty-six year Chad Gibson, will determine what went wrong and disciplinary actions will follow. Despite Halstead’s assurances, activists and advocacy groups both local and national are concerned that the city of Fort Worth may not be the most welcoming to homosexuals, an idea that troubles City Councilwoman Kathleen Hicks, who said, she is “very concerned” and that she does not want the city to garner a “reputation as a place that is not inclusive.”

Sacha Baron Cohen as Bruno, GQ, a Los Angeles high school, and Ramon Cortines, who is the Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent – see if you can comprehend the story. Seriously, just see.

The Toronto Star offers an analysis of the greater Toronto area neighborhoods and just how gay they are, and again, see if you can comprehend the story.

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, in an “emotional and lengthy” interview with the Associated Press Tuesday revealed that the “three” meetings with Maria Chapur, his mistress, he admitted to last week was far from the truth. The tale of heightened hypocrisy has taken yet another turn, Sanford stating that Chapur had come to the United States, at least twice in the last year, the twosome meeting in New York City for “romantic weekends,” contradicting an admission previously made.
