American Journalists Ling And Lee Convicted In North Korea And Sentenced To Twelve Years Hard Labor

North Korea is reporting Monday that Laura Ling and Euna Lee, two American journalists who were working for former vice-president Al Gore’s Current TV and kidnapped in March along the border between that country and China, were convicting of committing a “grave crime” against the nation and sentenced to twelve years each in a labor prison. The decision, an apparent assertion by North Korea that it intends to continue to cultivate a culture of political isolation, is likely to escalate tensions between North Korea and American.
