Finally, a nervous nation can calm itself, as American Idol runner up and guyliner addict Adam Lambert comes out, the Rolling Stone cover boy telling the magazine “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I am gay,” adding that “I am proud of my sexuality.” Lambert also confesses the obvious, that of all the Idol contestants he was most attracted to roommate and eventual winner Kris Allen. He also answers a question no one asked – stating that he is not interested in being the poster child for the new gay liberation movement, telling Rolling Stone “I’m tying to be a pop singer, not a civil rights leader.” Lambert talks drag, drugs, does manage to take a subtle swipe at Clay Aiken that is sort of needless. The issue’s cover, due out Friday, by the way, is like a failed semantic PhD student’s sexual fantasy come to life.
Someone who seriously needs to follow Adam Lambert’s lead and consider coming out (and I am not trying to be all P. Hilton) is Leonardo DiCaprio, who, according to People, is “taking a break” from Bar Refaeli, presumably to spend more time with boyfriend Lucas Haas, a secret that really is not close to be a secret.
Someone who is out, way, way, and way out in fact, a Mr. Charles Drummond of this season’s British Big Brother Ten, the very cute and former Mr. Gay UK finalist saying that he wants – yes, wants – a relationship with a man in the house, should a man present himself and as no one else will, I nominate the equally cute housemate Rodrigo.
Madonna will receive Mercy, the adoption appeal successful.
