Despite grey skies and a light, but steady rain, hundreds turned out in Philadelphia Sunday for the National Equality Rally, a demonstration for equal rights in all fifty states, including employment, health care, marriage. The parade of protesters worked its way through the city’s historic district ending in front of Independence Hall. Speakers addressed the need to reverse the Defense of Marriage Act, the military ban on gays serving openly, calling for a repeal of “Don’t ask, Don’t tell,” and for further funding for HIV/AIDS research.
