The decision to retire, but yet to be formally announced by United States Supreme Court Justice David Souter is not exactly a surprise – Souter has long made clear he does not like Washington and desires a return to his home state of New Hampshire, but his vacancy on the Court does present President Obama with an interesting choice for Souter’s successor, one that will announce the President’s agenda in terms of structuring the country’s judicial system.
The California Supreme Court late Wednesday, somewhat surprisingly, upheld a previous ruling made by a lower court that permits private religious schools to operate outside the state’s civil right law and that the California Lutheran High School in Wildomar was within the limits of its authority when the school expelled two female students it suspected were lesbians.
Public nuisance and proponent of gay marriage Miley Cyrus has run afoul of the fine faux-Christian folk at the American Family Association, who, according to Pam’s House Blend, have written an action alert letter to its members, well, alerting them of several startling Christian comments made by Cyrus, and urging them to take, well, action. Miley, you see, tweeted that “God’s greatest commandment is to love. And judging is not loving” as well as “I am a Christian and I love you – gay or not.” “We are all,” Cyrus continued, “God’s children.” Not so fast, says the American Family Association, via one Monica Cole, Director of OneMillionMoms.com, who claims Miss Miley is blinded and needs her eyes opened to the truth – the truth in this case being one of hate, intolerance, and wrath.
