Clay Aiken Out With Boyfriend While Idol Drama Drones On, John Gechter, Craigslist To Drop Escort Listings, Sarah Palin To Publish, Kevin Spacey

Clay Aiken, out and about Tuesday in Los Angeles with seriously sexy boyfriend, has, as I previously posted, been told by producers of American Idol that he is not to have contact with odds on favorite Adam Lambert, a dictum issued by producers simply out of spite because Aiken left 19 Entertainment, the production company that handles all American Idol contestants, managing and supervising their post-Idol careers. That, of course, might be the reality, but the perception, unfortunately, looks a little homophobic, Aiken being portrayed as a older gay man preying on the avails of the younger, yet to officially come out gay man.

I want to look for a hidden meaning in the story of John Gechter, but I am not sure any is available. Gechter, who by day and night was one of many undergraduates at a small liberal arts Christian college in Garden Grove, Pennsylvania, a tiny community bisected by two interstate highways, nearest to Pittsburgh. On weekends, however, John Gechter became Vincent DeSalvo, and Vincent DeSalvo was a rising star in gay porn. When a fellow student (who happened to be browsing) came across the work of John as Vincent, and the Garden Grove College community became aware of the situation, they all responded in ways any true Christian would – the undergraduates hurled fruit at him, the administration suspended him and much was made of core Christian values comprised by behavior not befitting a young man working towards a degree molecular biology. John came out – reluctantly, and as a bisexual – and his parents thought of disowning him. The case was about discrimination, then about the violation of freedom of expression and the American Civil Liberties Union grew interested. Now, it seems, John Gechter is leaving the college of choice on his own accord, transferring to another college, where he hopes most, if not all of his credits will be accepted in transfer, and where he can graduate next spring, the degree paid for in part by his work in porn, in hand.

According to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, in the wake of Philip Markoff, Craigslist is eliminating the online service’s erotic listings, to be replaced by a new category, one that will be monitored by employees. The changes will be implemented within the week.

Sarah Palin, who never met a lie she would not tell, has signed a deal with struggling Harper Collins Publishers to write her memoir, to be published in 2010. No details, thankfully, were available on how much the deal was worth, but Palin, who famously could not name one single paper to Katie Couric, apparently has plenty to tell and for that the beleaguered publishing house was prepared to pay anything.

Deeply dubious heterosexual Kevin Spacey has signed to star in Casino Jack, a new film based on the exploits of disgraced Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Shooting on the movie will begin later this month in Toronto.
