Finally, the landmark film The Boys in the Band, based on the play of the same name by Mart Crowley, is released today for the first time on a special edition DVD. Originally release in 1970, the groundbreaking gay film is surprising less a cultural reference and more culturally relevant today that it may have been then, given the climate of the day. Brian Juergens from AfterElton has this evaluation.
Vulgar mouthed Mickey Rourke – once arrested in Miami for driving drunk on a Vespa - who let go a torrential tirade Sunday night in Los Angeles that included Mr. Rourke’s favorite slur – fag – all of it caught on tape, has apologized, sort of. In a statement so grammatical sound its impossible to believe Rourke could even read it, let alone write it, he spoke of being “deeply sorry” if offended anyone and that he realized his remarks were “inappropriate and insensitive,” at least that is according to this exclusive from Marc Malkin of E! Given that the certain to secure an Oscar nomination performance Rourke gives in the yet to be released new film The Wrestler, it’s dramatically doubtful the apology is remotely sincere. Remotely.
Likely lesbian Lindsay Lohan, who, according to this story was forced by girlfriend Samantha Ronson to drop out of hosting this past weekend’s World Music Awards as Ronson was jealous of Lohan’s co-host at the event – the now unemployable Jesse Metcalfe, himself a questionable heterosexual – tells Access Hollywood that she’s excited to have a “colored” President. In the first of an apparent two part interview, which you can watch here, Lohan, apparently the victim of a drive-by makeup stylist – seriously – tells the every emphatic Maria Menounos that, plus talks Prop 8, Ugly Betty, and more.
According to US magazine, Jennifer Aniston tells the December issue of Vogue that what Angelina Jolie did, her willingness to discuss publicly how she and Brad Pitt met and fell in love on the set of the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, “was very uncool.” Aniston also talks about moody John Mayer and more.
Blake Lively, whom I like a lot on Gossip Girl, but who is becoming increasingly annoying in real life – Juicy Couture? – is on the cover of the December’s W magazine, where she talks designer handbags and more, all lending to a portrait of the actress of an oblivious young women.
Hugh Jackman – Hall of Fame DILF and dapper dude – appeared on Good Morning America Tuesday, rocking those aviator sunglasses and a fedora, where he spoke of the upcoming film Australia and of his evangelical father – pictures of his arrival and more available here.
Hall of Fame DILF Ryan Phillippe was out – with a women, who we’ll chose to ignore – Sunday night at the Behind the Camera Awards in Los Angeles, where he cleaned up nicely, proof of which available here.
